the optical pad kinda sucks i thought it would feel better than the track ball.. it is kinda better in a sense where there is no ball to stuck or get dirty but it is kinda annoying ..compared to the nokia e72 i think they did a better job including the original 5 way button pad .. blackberries are cool but thier ways of getting around in thier devices still need some improvement ...try buttons guys..

Hi all. I've just upgraded to the 9700 after 2 years of an absolute dog of a phone (Samsung F700),and its been a joyous couple of days. I'm reasonably happy with most things on th phone, tho the photo quality is disappointing to say the least...bless u Sony Ericsson W900i for spoiling me with the most beautifully balanced sepia shots.

I havnt had the phone long enough to work its juju, but my biggest frustration comes in the form of the MMS feature. The 9700 doesn't indicate or give you an option to view the size of an MMS being drafted. This often means my MMS' are too large to be sent via my local network (Vodacom). Secondly, when I start drafting an MMS with text, then add a photo later, the resize option screen doesn't appear...only if I start with attaching a photo first will it appear.

This may seem like I'm knit picking, but I'm engaged in photography as a hobby,so I very often need to distribute MMS' and the lack of the above really sours my experience.I've had smarter normal phones with this feature,so no 'smart' in smartphone here. I'd truly appreciate if someone can help me out on figuring out a way to keep track of an MMS size.

Otherwise, the phone has been a revelation in terms of my communications and information seeking activites. I've even gotten around to learning to dart my way around the smallish keys, inspite of having fingers which don't classify in the small catagory. A brilliant little feature is the ability to change the horizontal and vertical plane sensitivity levels of the trackpad...does wonders for when one's hands fingers are not feeling their usual selves.

Otherwise, will keep you informed to more of the 9700's ways...all in good time folks.
