NICK, 20 Mar 2010when i download an appliication or a game or a file(except ... moreTo download games and apps, you need an OTA (over the air) link, it automatically installs onto your phone. If you save a folder or app installer file (zip, .exe, .axl, etc) you will most likely find it in a folder from your memory card. You need a PC and Desktop Manager software to explore you phone. If the app/game isn't compatible with your phone it won't install but should appear in the Menu>Options>Advanced Options>Applications list. If it doesn't appear in you folder but it is on the list, delete it. A theme is exactly the same. An OTA link will automatically install it. Menu>Options>Themes. When you download a theme in a zip folder, you need to extract everything in the folder on your PC and copy the .cod and .axl files onto your memory card, and if included, the jad file. On your phone go to Media>press menu>Explore... search for the jad file and click on it. That should install the theme. Themes need to be compatible with your device (for the bold it should say theme for OS 5.0). If it isn't compatible it won't appear in the Themes list but it will appear in the Applications list. Delete it if it isn't compatible.

hero, 19 Mar 2010Again thanks for the swift reply. it is abit strange if you... moreYeah salesreps sometimes make you feel inferior to them but then you prove them wrong and they get offended... I sold my n85 for that reason. It kept corrupting my memory card (the one it came with) and they told me that I wasn't putting my media in the appropriate folders... I was like "WTF? I have had over 20 phones and most of them had mp3 and camera capabilities and none had given me any proplems. I know how to use a phone and you think you can fool me with that answer? F*** you!" They wouldn't exchange it so I sold it for 100 bucks and bought the BB 8520. Have been a BB fan ever since.
Anyways, since most data connections need to go through RIM's servers (resizing data for minimal usage of bandwidth and for a more compatible view with their devices) they require the package to be purchased. Sucks, but really makes the BB experience better. I talked to a rep the other day and they told me that in some cases you can use the internet browser with a carrier data plan, you need to ask your carrier to see if her plan is compatible. They offered me a Storm with their 3G internet but no BIS (no push email, FB, BBMessenger), but I said I wasn't the one interested... but that just might mean that you won't need BIS. Hope it works out for you, I plan on getting a 9700 soon, it's really nice-looking and 3G would definitely be better than EDGE.

Hi! Got my BB 9700 last January. And it's simply amazing! THIS PHONE IS GENIUS! :) There's a lot of cool phones around. But nothing beats BlackBerry phones for their functionality (and other nice stuff in it too. BBM is definitely one of those perks). Having this phone makes you feel an elite :) I chose this over iPhone because of the data plan available in our country. You can maximize the phone without worrying that your bill will increase tremendously. Unlimited Surfing/Data plan is available here for BB's while it's not for iPhones. It's just funny how people think you are rich cos you have this phone. But really, you spend less. :)

And oh, another reason I chose this one is that it's good for keeps. I don't need to buy a new phone every year just to cope with the "in thing". I think I can use this for like three years. In Nokia or any other common brands, you have to have the latest to be cool. But for BlackBerry, you don't. Cos A BLACKBERRY IS A BLACKBERRY. PERIOD. No questions asked. :)

Hero, 18 Mar 2010Thanks for the reply JRF. this is abit odd because I can us... moreYeah, I know. That's was why I never bought a Blackberry in the past. But I got tired of unstable FW with Nokia, useless feature phones from the rest and WinMo was to laggy for me. Blackberry has been really stable and reliable (except for 2 data outages, where my BB was useless). Facebook used to be able to work over wifi but they updated it to work only with BIS. Which, to me, is BS.
As for the data plan, I'm not too sure about that. In my country, Blackberry's only work with BIS/BES. They don't offer you the phone unless you get a Blackberry plan. I've read that some people have been able to use internet over an existing non-BB data plan, but I'm not 100% sure it'll work.
