JRF, 19 Mar 2010Yeah, I know. That's was why I never bought a Blackberry in... moreYea JRF, it works even if you dont have BIS. I just moved to another country and operator there told me that you only have BIS on Postpaid connect. I had prepaid. So I just simply defined that operator's APN details manually and it went fine. Used it for around a month without any issue.
To get the APN details, simply read the GPRS or data settings in a basic Nokia model which is running on same operator.

Anya, 22 Mar 2010Peeps! Appreciate if you guys could assist me on this. ... morewell, though I am a Nokia fan, but if you are really concerned with Emails, there is still none better than Blackberry (definitely with a data plan for BB internet services). Go for BB.

... moreBB is very fast in:
1)- Browsing
2)- Moving through applications.
3)- very simple download guidelines from the net.
4)- very nice & easy to deal with it.
5)- although it has 265 internal memory, u can expanded up to 32 GB ( SD card)....u can have extra space for message, emails & more.
NOkia:
1)- slow in browsing
2)- 128 internal storage, u will end up with 55MB ( cos of system usage)
3)-not simple as BB
4)- sometime takes long time to move through app.
5)- opening New Message takes 3-5 seconds to open.
At The End, it is up to the person's taste & selection of Phone...:)

Appreciate if you guys could assist me on this.
I was planning to buy a new phone, and suggested by a friend to get BB Bold 9700 OR Nokia E72.
I wonder which is better as my concern is emails/IMs/heavy browsing/maybe a bit of music junkie..
And i've been told both got almost the same specs.Thus, i need further advice on this.

shivam pandey, 05 Mar 2010the BB9700 is quiet good but for me not much good than N97 ... morethis gonna be a cheap Asian mentality to have 12 MP camera, 32 GB memory, touch screen, etc. I don't know why those people are not asking from good processing power, good battery life, best network coverage, better UI or browser, optimize use of smart phone ...
I am afraid this kind of customers are really a huge number and they can mislead the OEM with useless products ... just expensive, but can not do that much ...
sorry for being hard, i would say Blackberry Bold 9700 is the best smartphone in the market!

I bought this phone since 3 weeks ago, I found that it is great phone and worth each cent I paid for it. it has some(-)things: no service center her in Malaysia, limited free applications, And unable until now to find turn by turn voice GPS compatible to it with Malaysia map.

JRF, 20 Mar 2010Yeah salesreps sometimes make you feel inferior to them but... moreye i know what you mean. when wm6.5 was showcased at WMC 2009, i was looking at buying the htc hd. i went into a phone shop and asked if it was going to get an upgrade to wm6.5, the guy hadn't a clue what i was talking about, i just got a blank face. a while later he wrote this sites name on a paper and said that i should be able to find the answer on here, i was already aware of GSMArena, so left since he hadn't a clue about anything.
as for the issue, ill take your advice and check it out with the carrier to see if its possible to use internet without BIS.

To install a theme go to a website or forum that has themes for the Bold 9700. I go to crackberry.com, look for the OTA links for installing directly on your phone. If you get a ZIP folder, extract everything onto your pc and with the Desktop Software, install it to your phone or copy the .cod and .axl and .jad files onto your memory card. Then, go to Media, press menu and explore. Click on the .jad file and this should install the theme.
