This seems to be a problem with the Bold 9700. See the following thread to see there are many victims of this design failure:

The only protection I can think of is a protection case from "OtterBox" That provide the protection for your Bold, Blackberry failed to put on it.

To you know if you need a WEP key to log in to your wireless router.
Click on you Manage Connection Icon (Antenna), the click on WiFi Option. Under Saved Wifi Profiles you should see the network name of your router. Click on this name and on Edit. Click on Security type open the options and set to WEP. After that click on Slect WEP Key and enter the WEB key for you router.

I bought my BB Bold 9700 about 5 weeks ago and are basically happy with it. However after about 4 weeks after ending a call I wanted to press the hangup button I noticed that my screen was white with a small black dot. I backed up all my data to the PC with it still allowed me to do with the deskmanager. My trip to my service provider Tigo in Bolivia revealed that my LCD was broken, which is not covered by warranty. This by it self is understandable, however this phone was 4 weeks old, never fell down or was subjected to any kind of pressure. So how could the LCD brake? Here I found many users how suffered the same problem and almost all of them had to calf up anything from 150$ to 200$ to get the screen replaced.
I researched this problem, and believe I know what the problem is. I had an old BB 7100 for about 8 years. It was always on my belt and even fell several times without any problems. I took this old 7100 apart and found that the LCD was protected by a frame with a glass window. On the Bold the sensitive LCD is right up front without any protection. So any kind of a slight pressure, like leaning on some thing while carrying the phone in a holster etc. could do damage to the sensitive LCD screen. I am not aware doing this with mine but there could be other reason like for material defects which the Carrier of course would not consider.
So the moral of the story: 1. Buy another phone, 2. be ready to treat your phone always like a raw egg, or find a protective Case by a company called "OtterBox" for about 45$ for the good one, to provide the protection Blackberry failed to provide for his phone.

i recently purchased this phone and find it to be of a very good nature, it has fantastic features and i wouldnt swap it for the world.

I use a BB 9700. I have been able to download yahoo messenger on my phone. However, i have not been able to sign in successfully.
I noticed that other people that use same phone but different service provider do not have this problem.
Do i need to instal any additional software pack?

Have this for a year and it works perfectly never fell or got wet, second to none with emails I dare anybody to prove me wrong on that and I even have radio even though its not in the specs I got a radio app and its fantastic I can listen to radio stations worldwide, camera although just 3.2MP is best quality as well as video recording, and unlike android and apple I have amazing virus protection from the BB servers no wonder Blackberry is the smartphone of choice in the Whitehouse and business professionals worldwide!!!!!!!!

When I wanted to download the facebook for blackberry, it was not successful as it said my device does not have the "system requirements" to support the facebook on blackberry.
Please advice what should I do to overcome this problem?
