BlackBerry Classic

I like my Q10, but I may be picking up the new Classic or the Passport. I'd say 3 to $400 off contract. And I'm a Blackberry guy. Not sure if others would even pay that much. There's not enough hype around it like there is around the iPhone and Galaxy phones. So it doesn't matter if it's better or not.

Keep the SAR value low, improve the battery duration, no freezing software, robust buildt,... and BB will rule again. 'Classic' concept is a good way to go and sales will increase if BB is still capable of producing iconic quality phones.

AnonD-153995, 05 Aug 2014OK. In your opinion, what should be the asking price of a C... moreI would say $349 off contract, tops. I'm serious - Blackberry needs to be totally aggressive in getting this thing into people's hands. The price will both reward the long-time faithful and tempt the newcomers to bring their Android libraries to a more secure and capable platform. BB will live or die by the success of the Classic, mark my words. They will NOT lose money at that price..they won't make a killing, either, but even $50/unit would be a win for them right now. A phone of that caliber should cost about $250 to produce at the small-to-medium volumes of the launch period runs. Assuming that Chen can cut BB's legendary waste and salary padding by half, they could easily be making $50 per ship and another $25 per sale (if they can get the kinds of distribution deals they did in the old days, which I admit is *very* iffy). The full touch version and the Passport should cost the same.

Good Move from BB, however the same needs to be priced appropriately as BB is currently not in a position to charge any premium on the contrary it needs to offer at a discounted rate to induce not only BB lovers but also prospective clients who otherwise move to other popular and better featured service providers.

Now this is what I'm talking about, A fusion of modern with classic, can't wait till it hits the market. Just a word of advise guys.... Change is good but its better to keep the roots in place BLACKBERRY was all about easy functionality and the ROLLER/OPTICAL sensor was a revolution that made it possible bringing this piece back will bring back a lot of OLD users back in the BB circle again.
Great work guys !!! Keep it up.

I wonder whether this phone will solve some of the issues with q10 that I have.. lots of useful apps like waze, and others isn't compatible currently with q10 due to its screen size.. for some android based apps.. if u used it in q10 u will not be able to see the full display of the apps.. compared to z10.. I hope this won't be. Aproblem anymore

Cicero86, 20 Jul 2014Well I was talking like that because I was wishing for bb t... moreAt work I have seen a people who only come up with problems in existing system, but when ask about solution they draw a blank. Yes, I understand where you are coming from - sorry you felt that I am mocking you. Just having a fun moment. I apologize.
Anyway, there is excitement about BlackBerry Classic, and more about Passport. I think ever since the failure of Z10, BlackBerry has learned some lessons and they included FM radio in every device thereafter. My perception is that FM radio is a waste, and that is why I thought it is funny that you predicted BlackBerry's demise if there is no FM in a device. But, on an afterthought I see that it could be an important feature for a lot of people.

AnonD-153995, 18 Jul 2014..Yes. And if BlackBerry does not include a sub-machine ... moreWell I was talking like that because I was wishing for bb to dominate the market once again, believe me ergonomics do make a difference. But as long as market domination is not the aim, then mock on as much as you like...let me mock more on ur behalf, "and aliens will attack earth! And we're all gonna diiieee!" See you when the device is released..
