Ic, 24 Feb 2010Jst bout da bb 8520 curve.m askn bwt hw da BIS work?bout da BIS thing..its actually an internet package..only for BBs..diff from other manufacturers..with BIS,u can got a lot of features that u supposed to have either from the BBs app world n etc..no hassle at all while u surfing the internet..for instance, when first i got my gemini my BIS doesnt active yet..so,i need to wait until 24 hours for my carrier to active my BIS..so at that time my gemini is only like other nokia's n SE's cheap h/phone..its only can make/receive calls n SMS..but after my BIS was activated nahh all the apps were delivered to my device within a second including the maps...hahaha..at that time,i knew that this BB is superb, but only with the BIS..after that i can set my email client n start receiving the push emel..i can install the FB for BB,ym n so on..b4,i got mi BIS this all cant install..u need the BIS thing if u want the device runs well otherwise its bit lousy coz u need to be covered with internet dude..can u stand,if u dont have an internet then need to go to wifi spot all the time..n if u did it also u cant enjoyed as much as u hv the BIS..pay lil bit more to get the best dude..

I just assumed that you had pressed a key and stopped the LED from blinking w/o knowing it. But last night I noticed something. I recieved a Facebook alert, but since I'm feeling sick I said 'man, I'll check it tomorrow'. And just now when I woke up I saw an email alert from around 2 hours ago, and my LED wasnt blinking! So yeah, like Blackberrian said: it stops after a while saving battery life. I never noticed this as I always check my phone. I never see my light stop because I'm always able to check any alert within a minute. So, no defect!

My concern is showing a missed call, mms, sms...etc when the phone screen is dark. (no light and no LED flashing anymore).....U cant tell if u have a missed call, sms, or mms....because blinking doesnt continue. You will have to press a key on the phone so the screen lights up & u can see the * that u r referring to.

what i meant by dim ..."is that the screen is dark/blank (After LED stops blinking) "...meaning from the screen you cant tell if u have a sms/mms/missed call, unless u press a button so the screen lights up.

                            Gemini (8520)
1)newer version of curves compared to javelin
2)its lil bit cheaper than javelin
3)it has touch pad [which gave a new look n cool in BB's new product same like Onyx(bold 9700)]
4)the camera is only 2MP w/out flash (to me its decent already coz under the sunlight, the pic captured is still superb)
5)speaker is awesome for calling, listen to songs n also alerting
6)use same software n has same CPU like javelin
                            7)plastic but QUALITY..

                            Javelin (8900)
1)old version of curves compared to gemini
                            2)its expensive than gemini
3)it used trackball same like other BB's old product
4)the camera is 3.2MP but has the autofocus n flash
5)speaker is awesome for calling, listen to songs n also alerting
6)has same CPU like gemini n also use same software
                            7)stainless steel

blackberrian, 23 Feb 2010hahaha..i have it both..an iphone 3g n BB curve gemini..wow... moreDear Blackberrian,
I know you are knowledgeable with devices esp smart phones, just want to know your opinion about 8520 Gemini. As a lady, i want a sleek device with a nice camera & some other features. 8520 has 2.0 mp while 8900 Javelin has 3.2 mp. I am currently using a Samsung S8300 with 8.0 MP. Am in love between 8520 & 8900 devices but, don't know which one to choose.
Blackberrian, as an expert with devices, whats your opinion?

safoo, 23 Feb 2010Blackberrian, since us eem to be an expert, acn u pls answe... morethe phone is usually on dim?what that supposed to mean?i dont get it man?..ok,last night i figured out something that might useful to u n all of us..due to ur ques,i think it is not becoz of defect or what..maybe it was designed that way..the LED should alert u,that u have a missed calls, mms, sms,ym,fb,email or anything..yes its true but it cant keep blinking all the time until u reach ur device..on my opinion if this will happen it can drains the battery's life,dude..so,i think that the LED alert will only blink for short time of period..i dont know what is the exact time..maybe around 3 - 5 minutes..IF there is no other alerts coming between this 5 minutes time then only the LED will stop blinking..i said this becoz, last night i figured something..for instance, when im not on-the-go,surely my device will be next to me (otherwise it will be in the pocket,so i cant look at the LED whether it blinks or not when i have the alerts)..whenever i got an alert, the LED will blinking(thats for sure if u set the settings)..sometimes,i just dont straight away hold my device n take a look what alert has coming..so the LED will keep blinking..i can see that..while the LED keep blinking, yet i still got another alert coming..so that LED was continuously blinking..so,i dont have the chance to look whether the LED will stop blinking or not..but last night when i was not yet sleeping..i had this alert, then i simply dont take a look to it(like usual)..hehehe..after a while i dont heard any other new alerts coming..then when i turn to look at my device the LED has stopped blinking..that time for sure has been more than 5 minutes..so,i guess the LED will only blinking in 5 minutes time not more than that coz it is to avoid the battery from draining so fast..if let say u got an alert when u was asleep then u wake up in the next morning, did u see ur LED still blinking?no isnt it?but then when u checked ur device nahh u got a few texts, missed calls n emails..hahaha..i hope it will helps u..otherwise kindly go to the shop where u bought it..

I've read that some people have that issue but with a Curve 8530, the CDMA version of this, which runs OS 5.0 and seems to be an OS issue. Mine is running the original 4.6.1 OS and hasn't had any problem like this. Have you tried installing a leaked or Beta OS? You might have to update your OS, which your carrier might be able to help you with, or use the Desktop Manager and download the latest OS from Blackberry's webpage.

Also, you might not notice, but when you get an SMS/MMS or email you get a red dot with a *. If you open the Messages app or SMS/MMS or email inbox, but don't open the message, the red circle goes away but you still see the message icon on the home screen. This will stop the led from blinking. Same for missed calls, if you open the Messages app or call log, the led goes away and you only see the message icon for missed callls.
