    hello everyone,
currently ive been using the superb iphone as my main phone followed by amazing nokia E63 as my 2nd phone..but nowadays my intention is to buy bb as my third phone..i prefer either javelin and gemini..instead of bold and tour although it has 3g..i love the design n also the sleek of this gadget..can any suggest for me which one is better?plus,if gemini and also javelin dont have a 3g ..it will run with what?gprs or edge?is it worthy buying this device?

A.D., 04 Dec 2009Navin, As for your 1st query: Software / Firmware up... moreHi A.D

            Great detailed feedback....

Am not too keen for nokia .... its only when all other smart BB phones falls into the high range above 20-21k .... i feel like giving a try to nokia but def not with all this bugs n issues... also spendg less now would give me later down the year chance to try many other stable options... i would hav picked up 8900 but trackball, no 3g at tht high cost made me ponder upon 8520...

BB 8520 is aval at Rs. 14900, would now pick up that only ...and use it for a longer term .... also i was wonderg if 8530 comes sooner to india then that would be really good ... 3g , maps etc ... but am sure as it would be with cdma operators n they gonna charge higher for the handset....

let me know if thrs any creaky noise of frame when pressed from the front side...i read in some review..

thanks again for the detailed info..

            Take Care

              Navin,
As for your 1st query: Software / Firmware upgrades are usually released based on the criticality of problem. So as some review suggest that E72 has major OS issues in terms of frequent restarts, etc. I would expect it to be out no sooner than by Jan end.

Like you I too was interested in the E72 before but the endless wait only made me wiser and instead of going for stupid, overhyped phone like E72 I chose a smarter decision of going for a BlackBerry Curve 8520.

I am extremely happy to make that decision as I was counting on nokia goofing the E72. Lately nokia has really been bad with its phones in terms of build quality, OS, servicing etc. And the huge delay in release only confirms the same.

I agree E72 is much more loaded as compared to BB Curve 8520 but, you need to understand your usage requirement. I had n no. of Nseries phones and hardly took any pictures. For music I only stick to my Sony Video n Mp3 player. What I needed in my phone was Calls, Txting and Internet surfing.

BB Curve 8520 primarly focuses on these functionalities and no phone out their can beat it at this coz the whole purpose of creating a BB was for these kinda customers...

I am sure you have read about how E72 sucks at optical navikey / trackpad and even E72 owners admitted to BB having the best trackpad...

Camera in BB is just an add on nothing to brag about...

Screen is phenomenal and again E72 owners wished they did not have to put up with a $hitty screen that E72 has. (even though it has 16m colors)

Music player of BB is excellent and you can see that being compared to E72 in the gsmarena review.

BB Curve 8520 is all plastic n might feel cheap for people who have used E71 / other costlier BB's.. But hey itz value for money. 5,000 INR cheaper than E72 and a whole lot cheaper than other BBs

OS of 8520 is flawless since itz all Java. No Symbian $hit goin on here so no restarts no hangups...

Processor speed is 512 Mhz as compared to 600 Mhz of E72 but I would say it works faster than E72 coz it has lite Java OS, no flashy animations or any of that childish stuff... (That's why nokia is re-designing Symbian OS and shifting to Maemo OS in later of 2010)

BB Curve 8520 is a 2G phone... not a 3G like E72... But 3G in India is gonna be launched with private operators like AIRTEL (my fav) only in Dec 2010. So whats the use of any 3G handset??

All n all for the price and the offerings BB Curve 8520 will always be the smart userz choice over a stupid flashy show-off phone or a show-off guy...

I would advice you to buy Curve 8520 and stick with it till Nokia E72 stabilises in terms of OS issues, bugs and price, if you are such a nokia fan.

As for me I am shifting camps to BB... Can't leave without it.. Infact I would have written this whole opinion from the desktop in front of me but I chose to do it via my BB Curve 8520...

That's how addicted it has got me :)

Hope this helps to make the right decision...

              Cheers,
              A.D.

Shetul, 03 Dec 2009Battery run to low mine work only one day... is any one ha... moreI don't think it's a problem. See, I have BIS and this allows the phone to be connected to the internt (push email, facebook updates, app updates) and it's constantly connecting. Plus I use wifi for youtube, msn messenger almost all day, and facebook just as long. Wifi runs the battery faster, as does Bluetooth. If you don't need them, turn them off. Right now I'm using the EDGE connection to read and answer in forums. So by the end of the day I have 1 or 2 bars of battery. So, yeah, heavy use leaves you with no battery.
But, if you don't do all of that, then you might need to change it. If you just bought it, let it run out of battery and charge it, let it run out again and then charge it again, at least for the first week of use as this will help the batter work to it's full potential. At least I've been told.
                      Good luck!

MSN is a web site that allows access to news, weather and other information. You can access your hotmail/msn/live.com inboxes and (from what I've seen recently) you can log in to your messenger and chat. While you should be able to access internet with wi-fi (msn.com and others) you won't be able to use the Windows Live Messenger app that you download from BB's App world. I downloaded it on my gf's 8350i and when she tries logging on it says that the service (BIS: internet, chat and social networking) hasn't been activated for her device, even through wifi. My Gemini came with one month free of BIS so I could use the messenger.
If you want access to hotmail you can through wifi. But you can't use messenger (app), setup 10 personal emails (yahoo, hotmail, gmail) on the device for push email without BIS.
For websites and sending emails through a web page you should be able to use wifi.

Just had my BB two weeks ago and twa's satisfyingly perfect! Though I had a hard time receiving files via bluetooth. Wait, how long did your BB battery lasts? mine is 3 days, no internet browsing. Im just curious, i think its battery consuming even though im not browsing the net at all. Bout yours? need your answers. Thanks!♥
