bbdee, 07 Oct 2009I ve just bought 8520 for myself and a curve 8900 for my gf... moreto bbdee
I hate to tell this, but u wrong about the screen. 8520 has 320x240 but 8900 has 480x360 so its obvious that 8900 has better display quality, more bright n sharp..

I ve just bought 8520 for myself and a curve 8900 for my gf. All in all I think it works great for me. It takes great pix for a 2m camera and the battery last for 2 days with mid-to-heavy usage. The trackpad works well for me cuz my thumb is big. Tried it with my gf's phone and found that I had to use my nail to press down on the trackball otherwise I'd keep hitting the t /y buttons.
The buttons are about the same in size and shape but the 8900 has red colours whereas 8520 is black/grey. The screens are the same, cant really tell the difference when comparing them. The programs are almost identical but 8900 comes with GPS (which until now I've not been able to locate on my gf's phone)
All in all, I'm very pleased with choice I've made with the 8520. So , if u r not too concerned about GPS and 3.2mega pix camera and flash, then get it. The camera doesn't make much of a difference anyway when uploading to facebook, the 3.2 meg camera still takes bad pictures. At least with this phone u can save some money for a new camera!!

Nice phone. In South AFrica its available with unlimited data and mail at an entry level price of around 10 pounds or $20 per month. That includes your forst 200 min of call time.

Entry level but still a nice buy at a reasonable price

WB, 06 Oct 2009After reading a couple of the comments, I am even more conf... morepersonally WB i'd hold off on getting this phone, there are numerous better bb's out there for you. your best bet would be to wait for something like the bb onyx but if you want to get a phone now i'd go for the bb 9000 (bold) or 8900 (curve). They are tried, tested, and true when it comes to bb's

the 8520 has a great new design instead of the trackball but unfourtunatly it seems to fall short from there, i'd definitly suggest that you do try the phones for yourself before making any decisions. this is just my two cents worth =)

                    cheers

After reading a couple of the comments, I am even more confused. Is this phone junk or not? Some people thinks the world of it and others hate it. If I take it, I am stuck with it for the next 24 months...
