Yes, now everything is clear and I'm really upset after knowing the answer. I'd been wanting to get it but what's the point if we don't have BIS in our region. Perhaps upon availability of BIS, I'll get back on my thoughts with BB (better yet migrate to another country) Again, thaankkk youuu sooo much for your response.. Til then!!!

Without BIS plan you won't be able to receive push email, use BB services like App World, Messengers (BB, MSN, Yahoo, etc).
You will be able to: surf web pages via wifi, and that's pretty much it. It says that you can send/receive emails via wifi also, but I haven't been able to, my BIS is pay as you go and I haven't payed yet xD.

Ok thanks for the reply, sorry if I'm bugging a lot here. But anyway, before I make my decision of not buying it (I'm really saddened actually)let me just make it simple, (again, a YES from anyone will do) Without BIS service, you CANNOT BY ALL MEANS USE IT FOR E-MAIL, SURFING, IMs via edge, gprs or 3G connection and the phone will only be good for call and sms? Please anyone, I need a straight answer. Thanks again..

All users blackberry only push & pull email services only black berry provider. data transfer no problem.
bu business class handset htc hero.
black berry handset security purpose good.

Bit of a newbie here, sorry to ask but I really want to know the answer. Ok, I've read about BIS plan, now I'm just wondering, if you don't have BIS subscription, by all means, can you NOT use the phone for e-mail or internet surfing by using windows mobile IE or Opera? OR does it refer only to unavailability of push e-mail without BIS subscription? Sorry for the poor English, but I'd be glad to know the answer...

However the 3G HSDPA modem is implemented by RIM on a Marvel PXA95xx com processor. The 3G does not perform well, but the 2G in the Curve is based on a Freeescale EDGE baseband and APPS processor and performs well. The Bold does not work well when in a mobile movement situation. I recommend the lower cost EDGE phone, either Curver 8900 (3MP AF cam) or 8520 (2MP cam).

Best mobile ever!!! Battery life is excellent, the keyboard is user friendly, the screen is top quality! This mobile made me love rim BB!!!

I have the shadow unlimited web but I can't use bb browser. Anyone knows how to install bb enabler without going through tmobile?

mostly i buy new phone after 3 or 4 months but Curve 8900 i have almost 1 year ,,,, Why???? because i love this one :)

I'm confused... moreThis is wonderful phone except that it is meant for those who can afford a postpaid blackberry connection if want to use internet. wifi has limits of 'browser only use' if you donot have a data plan ie u cannot use other apps on wifi e.g. google maps or gmail or any chat program etc. Cannot use fring on it (the thing I really hate about Blackberry. Camera is much better than nokia E71. Camera of E71 is really bad though both are equal in megapixil.
