Myra, 15 Jun 2016Does it make sense to buy this phone? I really like it but ... moreWell the device is totally worthy depending on the kind of user you are...if you are the kind of person that uses the phone for youtube videos and games there are better devices for it.
But if you´re a business person that needs an organizing tool, browse the internet and read articles very often, twitter user or even instagram and you don´t want to go around every day with a battery charger in your pocket... this is the device! The lack of app is not such a big deal unless you´re a teenager that wants to try every new app in the market...

Phenomenal device, an opinion reinforced over time. I bought the original passport in 2014 and loved it immediately, however the lack of apps persuaded me to try Android (a Huawei Mate 7). I loved the Android, the fact that I could use various apps without issues, particularly those that need Google play services. However for business activity, productivity on Android continued to suffer and i missed the BB10 hub immensely. Six months ago I switched back upgrading to the slick BB PPSE and this time I will persevere as I've learnt the most valuable lesson. Nothing beats a BB as a workhorse - iOS and Android are children's toys in comparison.

Im using BBpassport silver edition for 6months. Just 2weeks ago I cannot access at the FB and notifying me that the browser crashed in the FB applications. There are two options to restore the page or to have a new blank page to open the FB. But the problem still the same.
I even wondering why keyboard has no light.

Need your help.

Does it make sense to buy this phone? I really like it but confused because of app scarcity and fear of being obsolete soon. Pls advice, I don't change phones frequently, so will keep for at least 3 years if purchased.

BlackBerry Passport Video Calling:

The following Video calling apps work on BlackBerry Passport with software version BlackBerry 10.3.2.2639
1) WeChat BlackBerry native app (can be downloaded from BlackBerry world) can be used to call WeChat on android phone or...

2) Zoom cloud meetings native app can be used to call Zoom cloud meetings android app on android phone or...

3) Free Video Calls and chat by Mail.Ru group (can be downloaded from google play store if your phone is already installed with patched "Cobalt" Google play services & patched play store, if not search in Internet for cobalt method or download this app to pc & transfer to phone and install) android app can be used to call same app on other phone(surprisingly it does not need any patching)

4) Oovoo Android App can be used call same app on the other phone (it says that it needs google play services but it worked without patching)

5) Skype android app (works only after patching with Google services patch) can be used call Skype on other phone
Android apps that do not work on BlackBerry 10 even after google play service patching
1) IMO does not work as on date even after patching

2) Google Hangout does not as on date even after patching
3) Viber does not as on date even after patching and the list goes on

I faced this more than 5 times and now I am not using any android program also because of they don't work properly on BB10.. Also you can check the apps that are "running in background" and disable them to run in bckgrnd..

But BB does not support many taxi app and google map does not work properly. I dont know why BB is not taking it seriously.

Just bought a silver edition because battery life is supposed to be very good.. well mine is only getting about 10 hours per charge, where is this 2 day battery life? Any ideas why it's dying quicker then most people say it does?

prav, 29 Apr 2016Hi,can someone please tell me if Passport has a voice recorder ?Just install Call Recorder app from AppWorld, it not only records calls but also has an in built recorder to record voice and audio clips in various formats.

Other than that you can install Parrot Recorder which of course doesn't record calls but is quite good too.

So sad 32gb memory and 3gb ram 13mp cam with java OS if it was an android it could be a better phone. Its better to have Brackberry priv or Ascend P8 than a tablet sized java phone!!!

ingabd, 02 May 2016Dear sir you app would be perfect and can replace facebook,... moreThe rewriting of "Open Camera" as BlackBerry 10 native app is almost complete, although there are some overheating issues while recording in 4K via the app. Right now I'm working on the overheating issue, I'm gonna name it BerryCam.

About the unified hub based browser, well I still need to sort out some battery consumption issues on it, and due to some odd reason Instagram constantly keeps on logging out. Gotta work upon it some more.

Blackberry hub experience is still an unmatched benefit of bb10. It is good to know that blackberry elites out there are doing their best to provide alternative apps for bb10 users.

It has been harsh time with news about facebook and whatsapp. But as I look at blackberry world, there are lot of newly released native apps that suite my needs well, and I bought them (to name a few, these are not very new: ReadItNow, MyAccountant, Browsie Browser, Snap2Share, Talk2Watch, Hub2Watch, Clipman, Spambox, Inst10, and these are new: Quill, Just10, Face10, some ported bangking apps). This is one of reasons why moving to other platform would be a tough time, in case I move to Priv or install android os on my passport in the future. What's the name of your browser?

Some of my friends that use other platforms complained about their whatsapp. They said whatsapp messages wont be accepted unless they open the whatsapp app. This happen after last update. I think this is kind of unprofessional. This is not suitable for fast response messaging. That's why some people still prefer using old text messaging (sms) because it is very reliable and fast.

For voice recording question, yes passport has this. I use Voice Note app from blackberry world for fast note taking.
