Good phone but overpriced. I have a bb4 so why should I buy this when bb just recently said BBM will soon be available across other pltforms I.e androids, ios applications.

I'll rather wait for BBM to be available for other platforms and then get avery good android phone.

BB made a silly mistake with the pricing, especially when android is commanding the smartphone markets it should have kept the price fairly competitive. At this price people would think twice and prefer waiting for new iphones and androids. moreover bbm would soon be pre installed on androids. So what's the big deal ? Just for qwerty hardware keys people wont get associated in the value.

But what is wrong with Blackberry they just released this super phone and they want to also make BBM available to other smart phones,if u look at it why would they think people would want to still rush this phone! I'm worried for Blackberry cos they just made a breakthrough with the Z10 and now this :(

i think BlackBerry is profoundly good in packing features and security and quality, BUT they miss out one important thing, not everyone is a businessmen and not everyone has a heavy pocket, i think BlackBerry should take a hint from the competition and design their device to suit the "non-business" group, or better yet combine the features of a business oriented design with casual user needs. that would make a helluva phone, who wouldn't like a power packed device which is more than adequate for casual use and for serious business needs, i would totally buy a BB if it caters to my needs as an average user.

i think BB should realise this and conform to the norm or risk perishing

BB is already at the bottom of the barrel now, shape up BB or perish!!

Jessica, 05 Jun 2013In reply to Lee; Feel no offense; I dont think I need to... moreYour English is so poor, I won't even bother. You've not understood any of the points I was trying to make and are making completely different ones which counter what you said in the first place.

I never said it was easy to port apps, but it is possible and done very often. A BlackBerry 10 app is considered to be stopped only if it is not visible as an Active Frame and doesn't have permission to run in the background. If your apps are being 'force closed' you're not gaining the right permissions.

When did I say that other phones weren't capable of email? If you look back, you'll notice I was talking about when data wasn't included in every mobile phone contract. Back when most people were using 3310s. You couldn't exactly use a 3310 for true business needs.

I don't see why you have a problem with my understanding of BIS. A subscription, specifically for BB, so you can access the emails and features for a flat fee rather than paying per day or per MB.

I don't think its me that has a problem understanding things. You seriously, improve your English before posting.

Of course Blackberry are struggling... Who said they weren't? Oh yeah, you! When you called people "copy nut" for buying them. Now you're contradicting yourself. Excellent.

                      James, 04 Jun 2013Ok. Here's why you clearly aren't an app developer and prob... moreIn reply to Lee;

Feel no offense; I dont think I need to explain in what I am a apps developer but for sure you are not. Apps does not exist in such a way from porting one to another OS. How well a device is designed to handle apps and how well users can access the apps via a device is the key. Clearly, you are only satisfies by porting apps from google ereader to your BB probably.

Understood that not all users need about 70,000k apps but please bear in mind that if compare to IOS and Android, there are 10 times different, if it was so easy like what you said, why dont BB just port over everything from IOS and droid to their BB world? Let me explain, the device (BB) are not able to handle most of the apps in a standardized coding, some apps were able to be ported over but it has to be stayed running and drain the battery; some apps cannot fit in nicely due to the screen resolution where a complete recoding is necessary; worse in some cases, some apps were totally not able to be ported in to BB device which has no explanation from Blackberry itself. The systems will only show FORCE CLOSE for the apps. We have ask Blackberry directly why is this happening, even they themselves are not able to answer. I still remember we are working with a company called Tencent to port in a software name QQ few year ago, we only managed to get this things done in 1 year 4 months just only for this apps due to the security encrypted communication Inflow and Outflow for a blackberry device. And I believe that it can only be installed in certain country only. Blackberry are very keen to work with any apps develop firm to strength their apps compatibility issue since long ago.

I myself owned a android, IOS as well as BB Q10. Due to my working nature I have no choice but to carry most of them with me at all time.

In term of emails, many of the current device IOS, android, windows can perform perfectly with push mail service, even for POP3 etc. How well you know about the why blackberry classify as a business phone? Because of the security. It takes time for me to explain, I will skip this. But to be very frank, are your information that private and important?

I dont think you understand what is the different between BIS and a data plan as well. Please do some research and let us know you comment.

Clearly that blackberry was in a struggling position to sustain themselves in the current mobile market. Thanks for viewing.

I bet this kind of gesturize menu will be the next standard for touch screen mobile phone.

BB OS 10 is flawless OS ever.

Jessica , 04 Jun 2013Totally disagree about this phone is for smart people. I be... moreOk. Here's why you clearly aren't an app developer and probably used an iPhone for 'selfies', Facebook and not much else.

Blackberry apps are written in Java, just like Android. BUT apps aren't written just for all Android devices or all iPhones. Apps are designed for specific hardware and software integration. If an app is available on Android and iOS, it's because it was ported over. It wasn't just developed and by magic it could be used on Apple and Android devices. That's why even some apps for Android phones can't be used on Android tablets. If you're so worried about integration, you'll be pleased to know that Blackberry have made it easier to port apps over from Android.

If you had ever used a Blackberry, you'd know that the apps on there, whilst not in the same amount, are still quite good and fulfill the needs of over 90% of users. There may only be 70,000 but how many people need or even use more than 10 on a daily basis? How many of those apps are very basic games or first attempts at app creation where it will be a button that makes a noise? How many fart apps do you need? Games will obviously be less apparent on the BB app world due to who were originally BB users. Businesses.

There was originally a specific plan for BB because, believe it or not, data was not always unlimited and included in plans. BB offers a full email service so you can receive full messages, rather than cut down versions (very useful if you run a business or do a lot of communicating) hence why more data was required and specific plans were needed. It does seem as if this is no longer required since the 'leaked' Verizon letter. Although it's yet to be confirmed, it's probably quite possible.

"do not be a copy nut"

What does that even mean? If Blackberry hold the second smallest share of the market (ahead of Symbian) then how could anyone be a "copy nut" by buying one of these?

                                Class dismissed.

Totally disagree about this phone is for smart people. I bet it can do nothing compare to my previous iphone. Apps compatibility is a must for most of the smartphone users now. Without having the knowledge of apps compatibility, blackberry is rushing hard to just launch the phone due to the standing in the mobile market.

The fact here is, blackberry was producing a high price phone but users are not able to use it. Imagine, you buy this phone and put it at home because you are waiting blackberry to enable some famous apps in order for users to use the phone.

Imagine, up till now android and ios apps in numbers is about 800,000 or more. Blackberry was proud to announce that they have a total of 70,000 apps available in bbworld, they feel proud of themselves. Almost half of the apps has to be paid. What a shame, they are proud of having only 10% available apps compare to other platform.

It was very clear that the game is about to over on blackberry. I know some of the die hard blackberry fans will be up sad but PLEASE ACCEPT THE FACT THAT THERE ARE NO REASONS OR EXCUSE FOR BUYING THIS PHONE.

Physical keyboard? LOL, this is a story in 5 years ago probably, remember nokia E73?

Again, blackberry announce proudly that BBM will be a cross platform applications amongst android and ios, what a joke? Previous case, no whatsapp, YES BBM works well, and now probably no. Will you switch to BBM social communication application from whatsapp if you are a ios or android users?

Exercise your rights and do not be a copy nut, previous case, blackberry for business personal, introducing what so called BIS package, and one questions; does BIS still exist now in BB10 and in the future? 3 years ago I am sending to blackberry RIM saying that I found no reasons to have this BIS package, it just simple does not exist, a normal data plan will do the same. They themselves are not able to clarify why should users got for a BIS plan. What a joke.

                                    Thanks for viewing.
