Lee, 29 Jun 2009Why does everyone complain about battery life on smartphone... moreHi Lee,

Thanks on the feedback for Storm. Could you please elaborate what are the 'many' things one can do with the Storm which is impossible with the iphone? Other advantages that you can list out? I need to take a decision between the iphone 3gS and the Storm today!.Thanks once again.

Without doubt it is a deeply flawed and very disappointing product. Everyday almost something else fails to work as it should. I am due for an ungrade and have no confidence at all in Storm 2 but don't need the Swiss army knife of some other phones. Unsure what to get at this time. Storm has certainly been a major let down. I cannot help but noticing the voting on this product on this site which suggests my views are not the minority, many don't like it, it would seem.

I got a BB 9500 Storm from Malta.
        It's terrible.
        Super user unfriendly touchscreen keyboard
No instructions to turn off the key stroke 'suggestions'
        Highly unintuitive.
        No stylus available.
Web site manual is not much help either.
Can't wait to get rid of it.

Why does everyone complain about battery life on smartphones??
No doubt the complainers are constantly checking to see if they have an SMS, always have bluetooth on, check their email every 5 seconds and talk the hind leg off a donkey.
The technology, screen size and dim-wittedness of those who bag this handset don't realise that you have to compromise somewhere.
Storm vs. iPhone - Storm every time! iPhone, even with new 3.0 OS, still has many problems. Bluetooth is dodgy at best, still need to use iTunes which is an archaic, buggy and disgustingly temperamental program...do I go on?

Storm is a good handset, granted it had a few bugs at the start, but RIM have produced about 5 or more updates to help fix this.

You can't do half the things on an iPhone that you can do on a Storm. Storm is in the upper echelon with the Bold, Xperia X1, HTC Magic and Samsung Omnia.

More fault than good features, more disatisfied customers than happy ones. That has to be the conclusion from this site and perceptions overall. How many users are going to risk more money I buy the Storm 2 I wonder having been so badly let down with this model.

I have just returned my Blackberry Storm, it has got to be the worst phone i have ever had. The key pad lock is on the top as is the ringer on/off. Needless to say when you touch the top of the phone the keypad unlocks and the ringer goes off. I returned the phone to Vodafone who said that have had numerous complaints about it and have changed my phone to a different model. They are aware of the problem and say there is new software coming out that will rectify the problem, so at the moment i would not buy the phone or recommend it to anybody. Do yourself a favour and son't buy it.

Just upgraded my 3 month old 9500 from the stock .78 to .141, which was posted on Vodacom's BlackBerry - Handheld Software page and it's given the phone a new lease on life. Was hesitant to use Vodafone UK's upgrade package, but I think Vodacom renamed it anyway ;)

The phone absolutely "flies" now, no response issues and have not experienced the issue I have read on so many forums about .141, that being the unlock problem - being able to unlock the phone using any of the four buttons below the screen.

Will see how it goes for the next week or so and give feedback, but I could end up tolerating it a bit more now, as I have read so many stories of unsatisfied customers. I'm so used to the SureType touch screen now, I even got an owner of the original iPhone using my phone and liked how the screen worked.

I use heavy on sms for my marketing activities. Can anyone able to advise whether this BBStorm model can sent single message to (says) a block of 15 receipants at one go. If possible, How can that be done? I'd check with my local promoter theuy can help to answer that.

                          Thanks

DAZ, 13 Jun 2009I love the new blackberry storm its great if you can handle... moreI totally agree with you, Daz. Anon posts whinging about the storm, well say no more. I've had the Storm since december last year, it has had it's problems, lags, freezes but I have experienced no hang ups on calls. When downloaded a software update last week, a big one, Storm has improved somewhat. Every phone has it's own faults & I did seriously consider in a change of handset. I'm now more than happy with it. I also think that anyone who has had Storm as a first Blackberry handset, please give yourself a chance to live with it. If your comments are otherwise negative, well, go and find yourself an unreliable Nokia series with poor battery!

The fact you posted twice probably indicates you were doing it from the handset, and naturally enough ran into problems.

The free apps are next to useless. Powerpoint ability nothing unique or special. Wifi not needed with data plan, so the Storm remains with more negative features, poor performance, and RIM arrogance, than it does good features.

this phone is very good hands down the apps are very cool and mostly free. you can even use the power point and all how cool is that? I actually got it no wifi u have to have it on an unlimited internet usage contract then wifi becomes irrelevant no more waiting at the train station waiting for wifi... my thoughts are mine buy it and understand.

Unreliable phone with poor performance when it does work. Screen rubbish, laggy, rubbish camera, decent call quality, but limited applications, and costly. Avoid this junk and see if RIM respond to the complaints which are prolific but denied by them at the moment. Actions speak louder, only look to the storm if the second model really addresses the concerne. For every happy customer there are two that are not. Look at the averages on the voting score on this site, it is the sign of quality kit that meets with approval??
