Thank you for your fast response. That sertainly dampens my thoughts on this, as I was seriously considering either the Bold or the Storm, and have went for the Storm after spending an hour with it.

With a pearl you can just press the letter on the keyboard..the storm has NO keyboard remeber

please dont question me i know what i am talking about.
The phone is to slow for heavy users, trust me...i couldnt use it for a week, it would infuriate me too much

Pardon the statement, I didn't notice that you were using Bloomberg Professional. I believe there are apps that cost an arm and a leg that offers a similar functionality on the iPhone.
I wish you could elaborate more on why the Storm sucks instead of bashing it outright with silly negative comments, because to be honest, I have used the phone and it is far from what you are saying.

The App's been in the APP STORE for a few months now. What in the world are you talking about?
Oh, for the person who takes forever to SMS, that's why the BlackBerry has "convenience keys" something I wish the iPhone had, even one, you can assign it to do anything, like say, making an SMS.
"Press a letter then send SMS" - Boy, was that cryptic or not. I believe no phone in the world right now does that. Heck, even if you did, I wonder how the other person would understand you when you "Press a letter then send SMS". You are outright bashing this phone without even using it for a week, or even a month! Ignorance is bliss as they say LoL.
If you're reading text, and want to make a call, as with any BlackBerry, you press the END CALL key to exit back to the main menu. You, going out of your way to say that it is too slow is just outright fanboyism gone bad.
Go ahead and use your Pearl (if you had one!) because I doubt that you even know how to use a BlackBerry properly. This is what separates the men from the boys.

I really dont know how you can compare the Storm to to iphone....its no contest.
I've been using the Storm now for 36 hours and i feel like I've been waiting 35 of them for something to happen !!!
Its painfully painfully slow....its 2008 for christ sake, when I push a buttin i wnt something to happen straight away, not wait forever.
If i want to send a text I want to press a letter then send an SMS not
1. Contacts
2. Keyboard
3. name
4. sms
5. type message
6. send
It takes forever !!!!!
If i'm reading a text then want to make a phne call i dont want to wait ages and ages for text to shut down the open phone then contacts ...yaaaawwwwnn
Guys seriously guys this is a diaobolical phone...I'd rather use my pearl until the 8900 comes out or go to o2 and get iphone when my application is avaliable.

I got this phone yesterday and I have to say its one of the WORST phones i have ever had !!!
I've had an iphone and a blackberry pearl and this is the worst by miles. I had an unlocked iphone and it kept freezing but my wife has the new iphone 3G and is is superb. I cannot use the iphone though as I use the Bloomberg Professional application and it is only avaliable at the moment on blackberry.
I have been using a pearl for the last 6 months ut wanted a phone with a better screen and media capabilities so I thought i'd try the Storm.
It is terribble !!! firstly it is very very slow...once you press the screen theirs a 2 or 3 second delay before anything happens.
the touch screen is ok, nothing more, its a bit tacky the way you have to push the whole screen down when you use it and typing is very slow, it take a bit of effort to push it too when typing a long text or email.
I have friend who's have the bold and hate that too as calls constantly drop out.
I got the Storm yesterday and its going back on monday.....useless, dont wate your time or money, if you want a touch screen phone for emails and media the the iphone is the only one to get.
Its back to the Pearl for me until the application I use for work (bloomberg) is avaliable on the iphone 3G.

Just got my storm as an upgrade from the local Vodafone store, well impressed......
Being a Blackberry novice, I'm after a suggestion for a application for internet radio. I work in a black hole with no radio reception but excellent 3G.

It depends on what you need, really.
A lot of people I talk to, say that the SMS feature of the iPhone is what "sold" it to them. They feel as if they're chatting with someone.
Then there's the BlackBerry, where chatting is actually a reality.
Some other people I know are so tied into iTunes that it's only logical for them to get an iPhone.
A lot of em, have Mac computers, there's a logical choice again.
The lack of WiFi was a stupid move for BlackBerry... on first glance that is. Upon looking more into the reason why they left it out, it shows that Vodafone's network is JUST THAT GOOD.
I still personally feel they should have put a WiFi chip in there, heck, the 8120 had WiFi!
As a user of an iPhone (First Gen) and a BlackBerry Curve, I can see the separation between the divide between those who see the power of the BlackBerry Infrastructure, and those who do not need it.
I handled the BlackBerry Storm, and I found the weight and feel (dark brushed metal!) of the device to be a winner. The iPhone (1G and 2G) feel like... IMHO a toy, compared to this device. Those who say it is TOO BULKY have small hands. I'm a big person, and the device is just a bit too small for me.
The screen was a whole different story. I type fast on my BlackBerry. I type long emails, and occasionally blog on a BlackBerry with no issues. I also love how fast it is to get into a "rhythm" in typing on a BlackBerry, and in a way, I can be almost as fast on an iPhone as well! The BlackBerry Storm is no different.
The UI on the Storm is slower than the iPhone. Think of scrolling through the icons on an iPhone as 25FPS, the BlackBerry's UI is around 10FPS. Fair trade to consider since I do get all the yummy multi-tasking there. Watching movies is pretty much the same though.
I do love COVERFLOW though, and even if the BlackBerry is very capable in the MEDIA department, Apple's COVERFLOW is a dream to use.
What the iPhone has over the Storm:
1. WiFi - This can honestly be a deal breaker for some people. I mean, to those who, umm... only probably use it in a small area?
2. Execution - The freakin' device is just beautiful. It's so easy to use. The device is so stable (hehe, thanks to not being able to multi-task).
3. APP Store - This is what makes the iPhone.
4. Better browser - SAFARI
Still, the BlackBerry Storm trumps the iPhone because:
1. Replaceable Battery - This is freakin genius. Am I the only one here who carries an extra spare battery on long business trips?
2. Replaceable MicroSD slot - 8GB SDHC cards are sooo cheap.
3. No need for iTunes! - Sorry guys, but there are people who don't like iTunes. Yeah, we have hundreds of CD's backed up as VBR-0 encoded MP3 files.
4. More CODEC Support - DivX, XviD, WMA, WMV
5. Multi-Tasking - I mean, REAL Multi-Tasking, not something stupid where the phone closes the application because you had to email someone.
6. PUSH - Not PUSH Email, but PUSH TECHNOLOGY in general. Here's a little secret, BlackBerry devices run on the BlackBerry Infrastructure.
7. Speaker - I prefer the Storm's (very) loud speaker!
I'll try blogging about the actual unboxing of the Storm when I get the device on Monday.

Spent quite a few hours playing with this phone, and I have to say it fails to live up to the hype. First of all the size and weight of the phone is a big inconvenience, its so damn chunky! Also the the UI is very, very slow, boring and is absolutely no match for the iPhone 3G. Fair enough the iPhone lacks quite a lot of basic features that other phones have, but then again no other phone on the market has The App Store or iTunes. And thats the thing that separates the iPhone from the rest of the pack, not to mention the amazing UI and internet browser. The Storm is nothing more than a poor attempt to copy or mimic the iPhones success. No WiFi!!!!??? I mean why on earth would anyone release a smart phone with no WiFi???!!! The only bit of originality shown by RIM in the design of this phone is the clickable screen, which is interesting and takes some getting used to. Typing is actually easier being done vertically than when the phone is done turned sideways for the full keyboard, its much faster too. All in all its a good attempt to beat the iPhone at its own game, but its just not good enough. I mean its like trying to beat Chelsea at home or play Michael Jordan one on one on his home court, really there can only ever be one winner. Maybe next time...
