I'm an iPhone user, but I'm pretty excited about this. It's a bit unfair actually, because they talk about this, a REAL smartphone, and compare it to the iPhone, which is a great platform because of all the APPS, but is no smartphone.

Having been a BlackBerry user, one can get really spoiled with the amount of multi-tasking you can do on the phone, as well as the stability of the BlackBerry O.S.

What really ticked me off about the iPhone was that everytime I would switch to one of the messaging tools, it would close the other APP I was using!

I thought there was something wrong with the phone!

Apparently, it seems like it was built there to make sure it doesn't crash. Try loading 3 or 4 web pages in Safari, see how it just closes the browser on its own, making sure it doesn't crash the O.S.

Yeah, so what makes the iPhone great? The APPS. So with that said, the perfect combination is getting the BlackBerry Storm, and getting an iPod Touch! I think that's what I'll do.

I was lucky enough to play with this handset today and it is FANTASTIC!! even though its a prototype it was responsive and innovative.
It dosent have WiFi as Vodafone have never bought into the whole WiFi setup as they have the fastest network in the uk.

It comes out on the 7th of November so get to a Voda store and pre reg for it as there is only 25000 initially and 17000 preorders

VF will not touch a wi-fi enabled smartphone, hence no 8220 on their network.

Shame, but that's big business for you.

Have you ever had a phone with wifi and tried to use it for massive surfing? Wifi + small battery = complaints about operating life... Wifi + big battery = complaints about weight and bulk... 3G does consume battery more than EDGE, but WAY faster. Wifi consumes MUCH more battery than 3G and most phones are prcessor/RAM lagged to take advantage of the full wifi speed anyways

I think the Storm (9500) will follow suit of the 8100 (Pearl) and 8800. It will have a 9520 version come out in the near months that will have WiFi capability.

Yet, I still am holding my breath for this. iPhone needs a "real" competitor.

                - In the absence of a true leader, some will follow whoever stands-up first.

I have used a blackberry storm in my training and it is AMAZING. Supports divx and avi files, so if you want to watch films on it, you don't need to mess around with the roxio software and format it. You get an 8gb memory card with 1gb of internal memory. The touch screen is so precise. Is far better than the IPhone with texting/emailing/pin messaging etc. 3 types of keypad (qwerty/suretype and regular chronilogical alphabet) so there is no excuse saying hard to type. The screen resolution is out of this world. Facebook fanatics have the ease of use of taking a picture and uploading immediately via HSDPA network. The phone is free from £35 600 minutes, unlimited texts, VMI and email (BIS), only available at Vodafone and for all you hardcore gamers........Its got brickbreaker on there yahoooo!

the fair usage with vodafone is 500mb if you go over your not charged but if yu continually go over like by LOADS every month they will either limit your usage or start charging yu or you can get a 5gb browsing pack i think its 20/25

Does windows recognize as storage device when pluged in usb without software instaled. Or do i need to install any software to access Storm's memory or memory card ?

i will appreciate memory access without need of instaling software.

                          thnx
