I am expecting that the Torch will oompete aggressively with the iPhone. I like BlackBerry because I can stay in touch with my friends and associates via BB messenger. I think I'll stay with my Bold 9700, rather than upgrading to the Torch. I don't see the Torch lighting up my life at this time.

Would be my complete answer to what I want in a phone EXCEPT that they again missed the boat on a critical component in this 3.5G generation... High speed internet is essential!!! I agree with BBUser. 384Kbps is a real FAIL!!!!!!

bbuser, 05 Aug 2010I'm sorry but 384kbps 3G speeds = FAILI'm pretty sure that's a mistake....it's HSDPA compatible - which means it probably gets up to 7.2 Mbps.

I dont think Blackberry ever needed to make the phone a verticaal slide phone,it kinda take away from its class. Also, if they opted for slide feature, it would look moe classier as a horizontal slide with screen facing its user 16:9.

This maybe a heavy phone and YES RIM maybe a little late in the software, but they really took the time and took in what consumers wanted and they shall receive. Don't judge it until you feel the power. No phones will be perfect. Blackberry is Blackberry

This phone is seriously out dated in ever category. The hardware sucks it has the same half ass touch screen as the storm, The processor sucks, The screen resolution sucks big time. Companies like Google, Apple and Microsoft are bringing the pain to the smart phone market and RIM still insist on making this retro feeling device. This thing needs to be placed in a category with Afros and a jukebox.

Anonymous, 05 Aug 2010This is officially the worlds most primitive device 480*360... moreI agree with you. The technology in this phone sucks. they took an unsuccessful Storm and mixed it with a bold and slapped some paint on the OS and they think this is revolutionary. Every phone is using at least a 1 gig processor now and has a high resolution screen on it. Even the look is outdated. At least give me another color to choose from on launch day.
