Ive got this BB9800 since April 2011 and still using to date. Thid BB helps me a lot specially while I am travelling to communicate with my family back home thru chating like YM. Surfing the net was also superb and used this in other countries I visited. It helps me also to navigate while I am driving in the Philippines using BB maps which you can choose the shortest or normal route to reach your destination. Here in Algeria, it also works excellent and using this phone for internet. The camera and vedio quality is very clear as well as the music which I am using this while I am travelling. I am very happy with my BB. You can update frequently as well via with your computer thru the net the available applications which a lot and depends on your taste. I am planning to buy same BB for a gift to my kid who is graduating this April. Kept it up BB..

I have a bb 9800 torch, and its an excellent phone except for the fact that I can't make or receive calls, it shows SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICE ERROR general error. This concerns me coz many blacberry's has this software problem

is it normal for my blacberry torch 9800 the frequent shutting off of power and return after a few seconds? Also the battery easily drain even if it is newly charge.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2012They Say torch 9800 has a battery that stays for 2 days wit... moreThe battery life issue seems to be a hot topic here :-)
I've seen some other people complaint about the battery life of the BB-9800 but when I go through them, they are not many having this problem, so I guess it is a matter of "fine tuning" the options of the phone to get the most out of the battery.

I'm getting almost 2 full days out of mine (8 months old) and I have 3 active emails, facebook, news feeds on all the time plus switching bluetooth whenever I'm driving and very little use of the maps during the day. I also check some internet pages from time to time during the day using 3G/2G as it is available, and WiFi at night when I'm back home.
So I'd give the BB-9800 battery a high mark (if not full) compared to other high end models from other manufactures (namely in my case, iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy SII). they might have better options in other fields, but in the battery life department, the onyl device that managed to beat the BB-9800 is Nokia N8 (which is in my book the best ever made mobile phone regardless of the attack on Symbian OS, but that's not the topic here).
One of the strange things that made a difference while I was searching for the best tuning for the battery was switching off the auto time update (which I don't think many people actually need it as it is handy only if you are the kind of person that usually has breakfast in a certain time zone then catch a plane for a business lunch in another time zone, and again get on the plane to catch some late night show in a third one) :-) But seriously, it made a difference and I have no explanation to it at all.
The bottom line, BB-9800 has a great battery if it is tuned properly to your actual use.
