The 9810 is great for the type of phone it is. Battery life is less than stellar compared to older BB Models due to better software and smaller batteries. It does hang on occasion, but that's because BB runs info through their servers first. If you like apps and games, go elsewhere as BB is way behind on those features. security has gotten better on other phones, but BB is still the best with that. The keypad and touchscreen are both good, but if you are heavy into surfing the web or watching videos, you may prefer a bigger screen. It all comes down to what you do and what features are important to you. Please read below some of the info left by myself and other knowledgeable people here. There are tons of good phones but IMO if you like BB, the 9810 is the best BB at the moment (owners of the 9900 and 9850/9860 may disagree, but their battery life is terrible). Still, unless I get the 9810 without contract at a great price, I would wait to see what BB 10 has to offer. I can get an upgrade myself, but I'm waiting to see what BB and others are coming out with.

It could take a second longer to update because BB routes all their data (even app based) through their servers. The 9810 does freeze on occasion because of data going through BB servers. Try making sure your FB app is updated, but you probably already know that.

That would be my first thing to check, especially if it is a used or refurbished phone. If the battery is OK than it is a software issue . I've had that happen with various models . Once I was able to get it fixed. The other times I just got the phone exchanged.

This phone is great with its resonable size screen and fast processor and lucrative os this phone rock ... Battery is issue with all bb but hey turn the 3g off then you will extend your battery further more by the way if you want to avoid hanging and slowing down activate auto on off form setting once a day during sleep and ur phone will rock !!!!! Trust me

Hi does anyone here experience a problem on BB facebook? Coz when i load the feeds it is not updated compared to the feeds on my ipad, is the problem from the carrier or BB?

The only thing that you need to do if you facing any problem with the phone is to UPDATE it's software version and there you go. At least we shouldn't regret purchasing BB as it's on of the best BB's available and for new user get a BB curve or Bold for yourself for the hands on:P. I have used all the models of BB and this turns out to be the best.And for all the battery and hanging problems, make sure you guys purchase a new one instead of used and then post the comments after use.

I use this phone since 2 weeks and i experience lots of hanging problems.
when in middle of a call u cannot hear , after u disconnect the call the phone does not ring or vibrate even when on loud or normal profile ! if u make another call u cannot hear again !
if u restart the phone then too the problem remains , the only solution is to remove the battery and restart!
i face this about 2-4 times in a day and it is very annoying !
i use the os 7 right now , i will update to the os 7.1 ! maybe that will be the solution to my problem !
i have no issues with the battery , it works for a day with normal usage !

OK just a quick comment. There are A LOT of other phones that can do things better than the 9810. A lot are faster, some have better battery life, flash support, bigger screens, etc. The reasons I like my 9810 are as follows: 1. Security. With the encryption capabilities and the fact BB routes everything through their own secure servers than the carriers make this the most secure phone around and BB OS 7 was voted the most secure OS.
2. Data Compression. Not a lot of people are aware the BB compresses data by default. In general, BB uses half as much data due to compression. As an example, if I view 400 web pages, it will be as if it was 200 pages. That's important to someone like me on a limited data plan. I have never gone over my limit and I would have if I had been using my Android instead.
3. Build quality. My 9810 is built solid. It just is. I've played with some amazing Samsungs that felt like toys and iphones are extremely delicate.
Am I a 9810 or BB user for life? Can't say. I have been eyeballing the HTC One X with a grin like a hungry wolf and I am waiting to see what BB 10 has to offer.

It gets even better if you upgrade to 7.1 as I have. There is a Battery saving mode on 7.1. As far as the freezing, it does occasionally but I'll take that over the Android force closes I get on my Galaxy Tab and the internet shutting down abruptly and knocking me back to the Home screen while in the middle of something. That was an issue with ios.

Torch 2 has double processor of torch 1 as torch 1 has hanging problems
