I found this article related to the Z2580 used in the Venue.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2041056/analyst-intels-smartphone-chip-offers-significant-power-savings-vs-arm.html
For those complaining that the dual core Z2580 is too slow...
"In tests comparing almost all of the latest smartphone application processors, Intel's Atom Z2580 chip based on the Clover Trail+ architecture delivered comparable performance to the Samsung Exynos Octa and the Qualcomm APQ8064T. But Intel's chip also consumed 60 percent of the current of the Exynos Octa, and less than half (47 percent) of the current of the Qualcomm chip. (The Octa chip is found within European versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4, while the Qualcomm chip is used in the U.S. version.)
ABI Research's report measured the current draw, where current times voltage equals power. But the assumption is that the operating voltages are comparable. In short, Intel's Atom offers the same performance but with a much lower power draw than competing chips, ensuring longer battery life and significantly undercutting the ARM proposition its chips offer much longer battery life than traditional X86 chips. If the ABI report is true, then Intel stands a good chance of cutting into the traditional smartphone market."

People need to keep this in perspective.
Specs mean nothing. Most people with tablets do not need a super high rez screen. Hell, most people wouldn't see the difference if you set them side by side. Most people do not need the absolute fastest processor out there.
What people need is a competent machine capable of doing what most people do with their tablets. Read books, download movies, surf facebook and the web and play simple games.
This machine does all this for considerably less than anything else out there.
One more thing I would point out that I haven't heard anyone mention. The upgrade to 32gb is $20. Every other device I know of charges $50-100 for the same upgrade.
Personally I've ordered two.

AnonD-90736, 15 Oct 2013In an 8 inch Dell needs to come up with a 4k display resolu... moreThe idea of putting 4K resolution on an 8inch device is just silly. The rest of the feature set you ask for is reasonable enough, just not for a $299.00 budget.
The features you want will be available at a price point appropriate for such a rich feature set.

Maybe this tablet is not up to the Ipad mini or other tablets standard like most of you all said. But with the price of $179, what do you want to complain about. Go spend $299 for a Ipad mini with almost the same specs. btw, it is available to order now at Dell.com with delivery date set at Nov 13 2013. I'm not sure about others, but I will definitely get one. This is the cheapest tablet yet so far with all the features.

I believe Dell could have make a tablet with higher spec that can compare to some other major tablets out there. But people, look at the price point. It certainly a budget tablet that is affordable but not for those who don't have the money and still complaining the spec of this device.

I don't know how some of you can say this well be a complete failure when it can easily compete with the galaxy tab 3, note 8.0 and probably even the 2013 nexus 7

In an 8 inch Dell needs to come up with a 4k display resolution, 4k video recording and playback, usb 3.0, s800 chip, wi-fi ac, LTE, tv-out via mhl, usb host, 64gb internal memory plus upto 128gb via micro sd card slot, 8mp rear with 5mp front facing camera including auto focus and flash, divx and xvid playback, and of course calls and messaging capability, only then will it be a success.

This will certainly be a failure with those poor specs, Dell never seems to learn, we are now moving towards 2014, we need upto date specs.
