Regarding Picture Phone Book ...
To "Yoonoo"; asking a question about this.
Ericsson have removed this function from
the final release of the phone.. Very dissapoiting ...
You may NOT have a picture of your friend
showing in the display when this person
calls like you can on some other phones; e.g the NOKIA 9210...

The T68; A bit dissapoiting !!!
I have been always been using NOKIA,
and now while I am waiting for the
NOKIA 6310, a decided to try the
Ericsson T68.
One thing must be perfectly clear;
when it comes to user-friendliness,
NOKIA has always been, and still is
ahead of Ericsson.. The T68 is a
major improvement over earlier Ericcson
models, but still not good enough to
beat NOKIA, SORRY Ericsson !!..
First of all, I miss the oportunity to
be able to save a contact “direclty” from within
a unregistered number from e.g a missed call,
or simply direct from punching in a number,
and then be able to just "save contact",
or "add number to contact".
On Ericsson T68 you have to remember the
Number in your head/or write it down on
paper, then go in the contacts-menu, and
add the contact and the number..
VERY VERY irritating and un-user-friendly ...
Another things that irritates me is that a
"birthday" is not an option in the calendar function,
this is plain ridicilous of Ericsson.. And it is
not possible to link an caleneder-event directly
to a contact. E.g search for a friend of yours
that you have saved, and put in an appointment
with this person ... This is ridicilous of Ericsson.
The so-called colour-screen is not that fascinating,
only 256 colour graphics are allowed .. And the
light and the contrast are pretty weak (probably to
safe battery-life, and if you try to increase the
contrast-level on the phone, it almost
doesn’t show at all any improvement. The screen
is a bit weak and “blur” .. Not in anyway “crystal sharp”
as stated in an earlier thread on this forum.
And mabye most irritating is; Ericsson have
removed the ability to assign imported
graphic-files to a contact-card.
(So that you can have a picture of your friend
showing in the display when this person is calling;
like you can e.g on the NOKIA 9210).
In a user-manual of the T68 available on the web,
it says that this is possible, but in my official manual,
it is NOT !! And after having tested the phone,
extensively, the conclusion is; IT IS NOT POSSIBLE !
So beware people, this function is not available on the T68).
The graphics you import from your PC can
only be used as "Background Theme"..
The graphics are sized max : 101x80 pixels, and
only *.GIF files are accepted)
Also the “keyboard” / “piano” function that should
be available, is not.. I saw pictures of this on
the web-manual, but Ericsson have removed it
in the final release of the phone...
The User manual is not very good.. And there is no
Software bundled; either for PC or fot the Mac. This
Software has to be downloaded from the net. There
Is no way a person without extensive computer-skills
will be able to transfer pictures to/from this phone
and the pc. Shame ono you Ericsson !!! L
The bundled rining-tones are boring, way to loud,
and all just plain old typical Ericsson-sounds..
The phone does not have HSCD like the NOKIA 6310
(and other expensive phones).. But you’ll
probably manage with GPRS if your network
supports it..
All in all this is a pretty nice-phone, but
It was a dissapointment in light of what
I did expect. The phone is VERY small,
mabye too small for some people, (for mee).
They have adapted the ability to have several
nmbers within one contact-name from NOKIA,
this is great Ericsson.. They also have adapted
the ability to have different rining-tunes for
different names (This also from NOKIA).
The phone is so small and “cute” that is almost
hav a “feministic” look and feel, like the
NOKIA 8310. The T68 has lot of functions,
But it is a bit difficult to navigate in the menus
compared to NOKIA’s menu system. The “joystick”
is a good idea, but is a bit to sensitive some times.
The phone has “Bluetooth” technology, and
a lot of accesories are available, e.g a wireless
portable hands-free. The lack of missing bundled
software, and manuals of how to communicate
with your T68 between your PC is also a dissapointment.
I will continue to use this phone until the
NOKIA 6310 arrives, and then we will see.
A colour-screen of this poor quality is
not a must, or a major advantage alone to NOKIA.

I'm 34, for those who are interested! Personally, I prefer the Gold version of this handset, and I'm puzzled as to why it isn't on sale.

I have this is Lunar Grey £400 from themobilerepublic.com (UK). It really is amazing. It's small, VERY well built. The screen is crisp and clear even at the smallest font setting. The FW is a little on the slow side as far as T9 is concerned but elswhere it seems fine apart from when a WAP page has 3 or more links it slows again. Minor FW problems are not an issue when you have such a cutting edge piece of Kit. If you are not sure whether to get one I would suggest that you order one on a 'return in 14 days' option. This is the ONLY way you can decide. You really have to try it first. By the way, the Gold is not very nice.
