iQOO 12 will have Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 144fps games, November 7 launch confirmed

Vlad, 25 October 2023

vivo sub-brand iQOO has been rumored to launch the iQOO 12 series on November 7, and we've already seen the vanilla model in a purported hands-on image last week.

Today we have some exclusive details about the iQOO 12 that we are very excited to share with you. First, the official launch in China is indeed taking place on November 7, with a global release planned for later this year.

The phone will be among the first to come to market powered by the just-unveiled Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, perhaps unsurprisingly. It will however be the first gaming-oriented phone to rock the new SoC.

To enhance gaming graphics, the iQOO 12 will use a dedicated display processor with hardware-accelerated ray tracing, similar to the tech Apple introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro last month. This is supposed to enable ultra-realistic lighting, reflections, and shadows in mobile games for a huge leap in immersion.

The iQOO 12 will run popular mobile games like PUBG Mobile, PUBG New State, Genshin Impact, and LoL Mobile at 144 fps with frame interpolation. This isn't the full list of games that will be supported, by the way - expect even more surprises. The phone will break through the native frame rate cap that the game developers set, in order to deliver a true high frame rate gaming experience.

For the past few years, iQOO has collaborated with BMW M Motorsport, and this won't change with the release of the iQOO 12. There will be a special "Legend Edition Inspired by BMW M Motorsport" too. Expect the usual BMW M stripes across the rear, as well as customized themes.

The iQOO 12 is shaping up to be one of the most interesting releases of the next few weeks, so stay tuned as we try to find out even more details about it.
