If you buy reputable brand you can then fine spare parts for it, including battery and even parts from 3rd part companies. I've replaced battery in my BOSE QC35II headphones and it cost me $10! Other headphones I have are SOUNDPEATS (I don't remember which model) that are 4 years old and still give me solid 6h on battery at 80% volume.

Removabl... moreYou can buy a Redmi sure because you're somebody who wants a cheaper phone rather a more expensive phone that has a smaller ecological footprint and that's ok the most people want that. But some others don't want that and they care about such things more than the average person and that's when the Fairphone enters the game. Just choices each individual makes.

It only has a removable, but non-lasting battery, no 3.5mm jack and abysmal speakers. All it can offer is "repairability"...but if i have it, i'll be begging it to die sooner so i can get something decent.
Hence, I''ll just buy the Redmi note 10 pro as a more practical option than this.

If all you care about is having the best camera and getting the highest framerates in mobile games then yes, you are absolutely not the target demographic for this device.

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2023Oh, and one more thing. The speakers are so bad you will pr... moreJust got mine. Im comming from 6T because 1+ stopped providing security updates a good while a go and was planning on going for flip or fairphone.
first impression: it feels a lot chunkier (both weight and thickness) than my 6T which was very sleek phone. Sound quality is way better than in 1+, finger print scanner is faster, although in less convenient place than in 6t in my opinion. Camera is way faster, photos are good enough for me. I had pleasure of helping my relative to start using flip4 and fairphone had no issues with taking QR code from same model phone than I had to spend 20 minutes to get with flip4 (6T screen to new phone which transfers MFA service to that phone).
I don't do anything particularly cpu/gpu demanding with my phone, so Fairphone was almost perfect fit for me. I can deal with it being heavier and thicker, but not having wireless charging might be something that forces me to switch if I have to buy my self a car before support period ends. I really wish they added support for it even if it was just enough to not drain battery when using navigator/calling etc. Extra cables are just safety issue in cars imo.
With official protective case, i feel like finger scanner is bit too deep, but that might be just because I have been used to 6T where scanner is under the screen.
Sound quality improvement from my previous phone was huge plus for me as I always struggled to hear people in non optimal conditions with 6T. I am very happy if they can keep the promise of 8-10 years of security updates despite its issues.

Oh, and one more thing. The speakers are so bad you will probably have to use bluetooth speaker even for notifications outside. Don't believe me? Well, just open the review.
Bluetooth speakers=even more inconvenient disposable crap.

There's nothing fair about this phone so we, the practical enthusiasts, are actually NOT the target of this phone. The target of this phones are snobs who are not much different than the ones buying Samsung or Apple flaghips. They are bragging with their shiny powerful toys and you are bragging with your "sustainable" toy. Both of you are deluded.

You have no idea that this phones doesn't compete with any other brand out there? It only competes with the fairphone 4, which itself compteted with fairphone 3 and 3+. The brand you mentioned is no way competition for fairphone because they have a different philosophy samsung and all other brand = low costs high profit fairphone = fair sustainable costs minimal profit, only the fact that you put that comment makes it clear you are not the fairphone target. Do you really think a person who is very much into organic food, environment, fair production of goods, repairable devices, long support, is genuinely even considering a phone from a brand that is all but that???? omg really omg

Samsung with their exirubishnox and adfullOS already lost when you start the device. After that, you drop it, well, have fan repairing it, battery goes by by (or kaboom as usual by sammy), have fun finding originals to replace it. USB C Port goes by by, have fun throwing it. And that come to device only, but let's talk fair paid workers, fair trade materials used, and active recycling and their investment in finding new solutions for a better enviroment and associations with companies that actually fight for a better consumer behaviour, that try to change the way garbage business is done this days. But ay, sammy is a bit faster...

Dion3285, 20 Sep 2023"Millions of environment damaging phones will be sold ... morefairphone is not price / performance / quality competitive product, how is going to displace the sales of phones that harm the environment? Never. Other manufacturers are under no pressure to change their products at all.
And fairphone knows it all well, all they want is to sell a few thousands of those phones at insane profit and keep the business running and getting themselves very rich.
For example Tesla cars can displace some of the sales of standard cars because you can save a lot on expensive gas that you dont need to buy and governments offer incentives to those sales so you can get the car for thousands less, and then most manufacturers are coming out with electric cars even if they don't want to. What a difference.

+1 for the easily replaceable battery
Wish they would have stuck with an LCD display though, to help avoid issues with PWM.

Chicken wing , 16 Sep 2023So you buy 2 phones for the price of one which means extra ... moreIt's a pity the price, or rather that there're no a low-cost version of it with lower specs, but useful for those who only want the phone for calls, messaging, and other basic features.
Still, worse is how major companies do not develop phones that follow Fairphone's model more or less even if the EU is supposedly attempting to get them into that direction.
