Everything on this phone is supposed to be repairable. If the battery goes bad, just buy another battery, instead of an entire phone.

Maybe a fair phone but the price is not fair at all. For 400$ I can get a phone with similar specs and during the year's if I can't replace a component I have more 400$ to spend in a new phone.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2023At this price it should have been QCS8550. Unfairphone buye... moreQCS8550 is a 2023 product from qualcomm. Fairphone company has start the design Fairphone 5 from 2022 to be ready at 2023. Fairphone company will use the QCS8550 to design the Fairphone 6

The main downside for this phone is definitely the price. I don't know if the price is fair, but for most people who just want a decent phone that works it's too high. Around $450 would be ok and well justified, but $800 is insane. For this money you can get flagship phones that surpass this phone in almost every aspect. Why people who care about environment are the ones who must pay the most? This logic is against those believs.

Fairphone is one of the few manufacturers not selling blatant planned obsolescence. I only wish they would go in the lightweight, small screen, low power draw RISC-V chipset direction instead of the widescreen OLED brick route.

Not all of us are gamers. I would bet for most of us the most pressing worry is dropping the thing and cracking the screen rather than noticing a 5ms latency on a 5g millimeter wave streamed 4k belle delphine ice cream so good tik tok or whatever. F = ma so the more bloated the phone is with giant UHD screen and giant battery needed to power it, the more likely it is to crack. The screen reaching the edges doesn't help. That's why you have to swaddle the thing in a fat case and screen protector for it to not die instantly from the slightest impact.

This mobile phone has better speakers than the HONOR 50 up to the HONOR 90, which is unfortunate for Honor, especially since this Fairphone has a stronger processor than the Honor 50 up to the Honor 90. This hurts Honor a lot.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2023At this price it should have been QCS8550. Unfairphone buye... moreengineers making those security and OS updates are not cheap. I have very little interest on switching my phones every two to three years. They simply offer me to keep same phone and not spend my time on transferring my MFA apps to new phone. Both Apple and Fairphone are offering that to market and people who value their time and have no reason to buy more powerful phone are willing to pay for that privilege.

Also, you wouldn't believe how many old folks curse android manufacturers for forcing them to switch to new phone as often as they do. Im not sure how many of them are willing to spend twice as much, but my guess is that enough for them to make this profitable business.

Obviously it is not product for gamers, but for those people who use smartphones for less demanding tasks. I for one am still using oneplus 6t, and only forced to change because it has been year since it received security updates.

You can't compare this device with a device in the same price range and wondering why the specs are not up to par, completely forgetting the fact that labor costs and source winning costs made to produce this phone are double or triple of that of any other phone.

Supreme Unorthodox, 07 Sep 2023This is a decent phone and what is more important really, r... moreThey are inconsistent with the major Android version updates.
FP3 is on 13 currently, FP4 is on 12 at the moment.

The important thing is they are prompt with the security updates. Both are on the August 2023 security patch levels.

With how stagnant Android has become, the major versions are not that important (to me at least). On the other hand it would be nice if they had a defined update roadmap for the first 5 years at least (the warranty period). They really should be more transparent with this info, especially when one of their main selling points is long-term software support.

They say they are planning at least 5 Android versions for the FP5, but there's no confirmation.
