My personal experience is that Google has made poor mother boards--very cheap...I've had 3 in my phone now (Pixel 3a bought in May 2019). The people at the google recommended ubreakifix stores did the warranty repair...4 times so far. Only problem is dropped calls and low/no signal in great signal areas. Once it starts dropping calls it will keep dropping calls and be pretty useless except for being a really good camera.

Overall pretty decent phone wife and I have our own. Quirky app and window closing method doesn't work as well as it should.
Answering calls or ending them while in an open app very quirky, For a Phone.
Results in missed calls because button for Answer does not respond properly.
Also if using phone or message app when a call is received must use pull down to see it and that is wildly quirky. But all else works well. Battery life very good.

Anybody facing with front firing speaker distortion ?

Mine is facing that issue seriously .
When I restart the device , that issue is disappear.
But a few days or couple of hours later, the problem is revolve again .
Would you give me some advice and info ? Thanks .

Noticeably faster than the OG Pixel I came from, the camera is from the Pixel 3 and so is excellent. Works great as a daily driver for those who don't need flagship performance. Battery performance is simply amazing.

Nine plus months in use. Really like this mobile. Don't let the specs fool you this thing is quick. The camera is excellent. Would like 6 gb of ram but at $400 US dollars don't see that happening.

                      * Very good touch response
                      * Gorgeous and simple design with matte finish
                      * User friendly Google Assistant support

Also like to mention some cons such as:

                      * There is no option for external memory
                      * Battery could be more powerful

Using the phone from this December. Overall it's a good phone and highly recommended.

Well I now know why Play Music wouldn't see my .flac files. I transferred the two .flac via Bluetooth (I didn't have a USB-C to USB-A cable - the phone came bundled with a USB-C to C cable only...).

Got a USB-C to A cable today, deleted the originally transferred files, and moved them again but from Windows. Works fine now. I know Google Play Music is finicky regarding where the files come from. Looks like that was the case here.

Happy with the phone now. A bit of a culture shock coming from a S6 but seems fluid enough to get used to quickly enough.

So I downloaded Google Files, found a .flac file which I loaded earlier on the phone, and went OPEN WITH Google Play Music.

It opened the flac and played the file in a floating widget. I can't get into the app - its just stays as a widget.

Does anyone know how to properly use Google Play Music? I've rummaged online and can't figure out why it won't see local audio files, unless I force it to open via a File Manager (like Google Files). Really want to keep app downloads to a minimum

Try Musicolet, it's free, no ads and available on the Play Store.
Also, it can show your music in folders, even folder tree structure, so that's a big plus in my book.

Anyone able to recommend a half-decent, ad-free music player? I'm coming from a Galaxy S6 to a Pixel. Didn't realise that Google Play Music would is unable to play .flac.

This is a nice phone so far. My only concern is it's got half the storage of my 128GB S6, and it doesn't have as much built-in software that Samsung did (I used most of the bloat, which meant less downloaded from the Play Store). Still haven't tested mkv playback because the phone only came with a USB C-C cable....!

Anonymous, 09 Nov 2019Is it true that Pixels don`t get the same software support ... morePartly. There are no limits in regard to the firmware update, but some of the newest features on Pixel 4, such us gesture control do not work in many countries.
The Pixel 3a works well, all functions are on.
