Google is known for it's software being an industry leader, not for it's lousy hardware. I wanted to believe Google can do magic in photo processing - but they can't, samples in the Review section aplenty.

question, does this count as the first all screen phone with no notches or chins or foreheads. like the first edge to edge screen? same goes for the 4A 5G

I was desperately looking for an affordable backup cameraphone in US (after Moto and Sam's midrange quality drop). Looked at the Pixel 5 review too, but it left me shocked, considering all the hype around Pixel cameras.
Don't you people see how much noise main cam photos have, even during daylight!? That becomes way worse at night, with Night Sight not helping. Same for the Ultrawide night shots, that in addition gets a significant detail loss.
2x "super" digital zoom would be OK, but some grass/leaves areas get completely washed out.

too bad the pixel 5 is a performance downgrade from the pixel 3. i was really hoping google would keep up the good work. dont need more ram or storage, worse processor and gpu and same camera since the pixel 2 except it includes a bonus camera. I'll skip and wait for something that is an actual upgrade and not just a really expensive mid range phone

Anonymous, 30 Nov 2020HI! i am upgrading form an S9, so i am wondering what phone... moreI would get the s20 5G, especially if you can get it in Snapdragon version. It has a premium feel, it is compact, 120hz, micro sd card support, a flagship processor. I would honestly never buy a phone that does not have a flagship processor like Pixel 5. Maybe now the performance is ok, but in 3 years it would lag. I bought 5 yrs ago a Samsung S7 edge and it still does not lag.

The Google Pixel 5 is a very... interesting smartphone. I am struggling to see where google is coming from with this phone. Is it a flagship device at a cheap price, or a budget phone with a stupidly high price tag? It carries mid range specs with a high price. For a similar price you can get other phones from the likes of Apple ( for the IOS lovers) or Samsung ( with the Galaxy S20 FE- which also comes in a 5G variant). I have seen Android models in 2020 with the same chipset and (sometimes) better specifications all together ( Realme X50 https://www.gsmarena.com/realme_x50_5g-10319.php ) for half of the price. It works and is fast, but I personally think Google could have done better for the money. As it stands, I can't wait to see the innovations on the Pixel 6, and to see if Google will make it better. I am not saying that this is a bad phone, I am just voicing my opinion that it could be better.

                                  Hope this helped :)

Jump to 15:30 and you'll notice that the Pixel 5 was faster in launching 8 apps compared to only 2 on the Pixel 4 XL.

Of course RAM management was also better on the 5 with 10 apps still running, while only 3 on the 4 XL.

I don't care if they didn't use the latest 800 series snapdragon, this thing is a fantastic phone, period! I had the pixel 1, 3 and now the 5. I love google's approach of embracing the mid range price again instead of trying to compete in the $900+ range. As usual, Google killed it in the software/feature department. Much improved battery life over previous models too partly due to a larger battery but battery optimization as well. Also glad they brought the rear fingerprint reader back. Look forward to an on screen reader in the future.
