6GB of RAM instead of 8GB (which should be the standard for today's flagship and midrange phones) and 60Hz instead of 90Hz are kinda disappointing. I applaud Google for putting last year's flagship chip in their midrange phone but the regular Pixel 6 seems like a better option for me at least.

Hello Moto, 20 May 2022And this phone is not a budget phone, its a mid-range phone... moreWhatever you want to call it, for me (from Europe) this seems like a budget phone.
It is still just a silly gimmick, many budget phones have silly gimmicks, that does not make or break a phone.

Anonymous, 20 May 2022Yes. Higher refresh rates look better. That doesn't me... moreAnd this phone is not a budget phone, its a mid-range phone. And every other phone in this price bracket has better refresh rates. Even some real budget phones ($150) have better refresh rates.

notafanboy, 19 May 2022Nobody mentioned battery life. We are talking about what &q... moreYes. Higher refresh rates look better. That doesn't mean it is a good feature on a budget phone or useful for people who want battery life.
It is the same for resolution, a 4K display on a phone looks better than a display with lower resolution, which doesn't mean every phone should have one, as there are real downsides, e.g. in cost and battery life.
It is a silly niche feature on a phone (which doesn't mean it makes no difference). Nobody should be upset over a budget phone not using it.

Anonymous, 19 May 2022People who care about battery life instead of silly gimmick... moreNobody mentioned battery life. We are talking about what "looks better". You can't tell me 60hz is more pleasing to the eye than 120hz or 90hz. Get out.

Dennis98, 12 May 2022Yeah, but there's no such thing as "no DAC" ... more> but there's no such thing as "no DAC"... is necessary for a USB-C (digital) to 3.5mm (analog)
I guess you are right. What I meant was those "passive" USB-C dongles that uses the phone's internal DAC to process audio instead of its own.
Also, I'd recommend the CX31993 as the best budget USB-C DAC. Costs only like $8.

If only its height would've been below 150mm, would've sold my pixel 6 pro for it in a jiffy. Disappointing to see Google not releasing a smaller sized phone, I know this one is not huge but still below 150mm height would've been perfect.

notafanboy, 19 May 2022What? Who prefers 60hz over 90hz or 120hz? Who? Who? People who care about battery life instead of silly gimmicks.
Watching the icons on your homescreen go by smoothly is simply not a great feature. I would immediately disable it on any phone.
Just another silly trend companies push to justify their prices. No budget focused device should have this minor feature, Google knows that.

Hello Moto, 18 May 2022This phone has bezels thick enough to fit a train on.Which makes phones even half the price more viable. And it has sharp corners. Even if Pixel 5 has worse performance, it's slimmer form factor wins it over Pixel 6a for me. and everything else is pretty much the same.

notafanboy, 19 May 2022What? Who prefers 60hz over 90hz or 120hz? Who? Who? People who haven't been spoiled by high refresh rate. You see, 60Hz is more than good enough, in fact it feels smooth. But once you get used to 90 or 120Hz, it's gone. You can't use 60Hz and get good battery life ever again

Prince Cooper, 19 May 2022"The perfect phone" for me > Compact (yes, 6.... morelike why would need high refresh rate when they drain the battery anyway?? 60hz is probably enough for me. even my phone supports 90hz and i still use 60. and yes this is the almost perfect phone if it had an headphone jack. pixel a series does have them

notafanboy, 19 May 2022What? Who prefers 60hz over 90hz or 120hz? Who? Who? 120Hz is almost certainly better than 60, no one would like less refresh rate over another, and anyways if you are too eager for 60, just change the settings to 60. and as far as this phone goes, it is quite affordable of a google phone, so spec downgrading can be reasonable as it competes well with one plus 9
