Google Pixel 6a's camera reportedly won’t feature Motion Mode

According to a new report from XDA-Developers, Google’s next a-Series smartphone may not have one of the camera features introduced with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Motion Mode uses machine learning and multi-frame capture to generate a motion-blurred background with a clear subject.

As per XDA-Developers, developer Kuba Wojciechowski discovered in the code showing Pixel Tips pertaining to Motion Mode, the Pixel 6a’s codename “bluejay” explicitly excludes mention of Motion Mode.

Although the Pixel 6a will reportedly use the same Tensor chipset as the Pixel 6 duo, it is expected that the unreleased mid-range Google smartphone will use the camera setup from the Pixel 5a, including a 12.2MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide snapper. This may indicate that the older 12.2MP sensor from previous Pixels won’t be compatible with this feature.

The Google Pixel 6a is expected to bear resemblance to the Google Pixel 6 and will be powered by the Google Tensor chipset. It will also have a 6.2-inch OLED display. As mentioned before, it will have the older camera sensors as to maintain a lower cost on the midrange Pixel.

The Google Pixel 6a is expected to arrive sometime in the next several weeks. Chances are that it may be announced during Google’s I/O conference, taking place on May 11-12 with an availability date of July 28. Other rumors suggest Google may be teasing the Pixel Watch during the same event.
