It's convenient but it should've been a choice, not mandatory, smartphone makers knew that would've yielded less profits so they removed the jack to further make 3.5mm inconvenient. Predatory. Also, two things, I don't think my phone is getting slow due to updates, like this phone gets hot af a lot, maybe that deteriorated the silicon a little.

It's called programmed obsolesence. Phones can only update 3 OS versions before they begin to get slow. This cripples ios devices.
Excepting custom roms, because that's the people's honest work and not slimy manufacturers trying to make you update.

Cmmon Google, learn from Samsung they had to remove exynos in india and now they are the top smartphone organisation here

Every thing works on point for me. Don't know about that guy further below. My only issue is the finger print sensor. It gets my left thumb pretty much all the time (fails 1/10), but fails 9/10 times for my right thumb....UNTIL I took a tip of registering each thumb twice. Yes I know, that means two less fingers, but you only really need the thumbs (unless you're registering your wife or something). Now it's 9/10 not just for left but right as well. Face unlock works unless in an environment with less light. That's expected. It's not infrared like iOS. The only solution is to bump up your screen brightness, which is like blindingly bright day or night. Sounds is loud and has a decent base. 120Hz display is smooooth, and all apps are just snappy. Haptics are in a different class...what else can I say... I have no issues. 8.5/10 experience so far. -1 for the finger print sensor, and -0.5 because I haven't tested it on cellular network as yet.

One of the worst phones, Fingerprint works once in 20 tries. face unlock works only in the same environmental and weather conditions as the first scan. The audio is terrible. processor is even worse than the tensor g2, games lag even on the lowest quality. Battery takes ages to charge, moments to drain. my xiaomi redmi note 11 pro was way better if it wasn't for their constant ads.

I will never buy a pixel again with this stupid processor Tensor(Exynos), buying a pixel you get problems with missed calls and network loss. I don’t understand what idiots from Google management decided to switch to this problematic processor, even Samsung abandoned it in their flagships. Only Snapdragon - only Rock'n'roll)

second worst sound from mobile phone, after Sony. Some of the songs are heaving echoes and are giving awful experience when putting volume up on this phone.

Also, with each update the phone might get smoother but NOT faster unless Google does some absolute base level optimisation which allows the software to extract more from the hardware with the same power draw/efficiency. My S22U SD got smoother but I can definitely feel its age. Micro stutters and hiccups have become a part of my life when using phones so I think this argument is moot, phones aren't ever gonna be fast enough for a smooth and seamless experience I guess. I'm never going for a flagship phone anymore. Just not worth it, everything's just "hype". If the next "pixel a" phone has good battery I'll go with it. The main cam is great already, I'll miss the telephoto but I think I'll just buy a mirrorless, phone cams are too artificial nowadays.

Anyways, the iPhone is struggling due to poor optimisation for multitasking. Also, the S23 Ultra is NOT slower than the iPhone. The most important aspect here is the GPU, the S23 Ultra's GPU is just as fast as the Apple's. Also, the previous video showed a better performance from Samsung, maybe the update nerfed this phone or it is aging. Anyways, I'm also pretty sure it's tougher to sideload apps on this phone than on the Samsung, because of the Snapdragon. If it were Samsung with Exynos vs Google with Tensor I'd have had no problem, but it's Snapdragon vs Exynos, it's just going to be easier for devs to optimise for Snapdragon phones and you'll get better experiences there. For example options in games, smoothness in apps, availability sometimes, etc. Samsung's Exynos was just horrible due to that, apps sucked, Snapdragon isn't better because of the performance but rather the optimisation.

Anyways, you do you my friend. I just don't see myself spending so much on a Pixel Pro phone unless Google makes a chip that can hit and sustain 8+ gen 1 performance, I think that's all the performance that people need and if the phone can sustain that ~90% then I'd be willing to side with Google. Your point is valid for you and you do you buddy.

In real world even with iPhone having a lot more powerful chipset there is no difference, or even year older phone performing equally as good or even better as in this case. S23 Ultra must be aging like a fine wine, while iPhone not even able to use its mega powerful bionic it is just ironic. All these phones are different, even Google 8 Pro with its weaker chipset can do some tasks better or even faster. At this point most higher end chipsets are more than enough for a phone and it is mostly just a paper specs as phones are not able to utilize it especially when talking about sustaining that performance, at this point even midrange chipsets are so powerful that anything more powerful is just playing marketing competition game. Loved that video from In Depth Tech Reviews for sure it just shows the real world performance and that so much more powerful iPhone is no any better and it wont change when all these phones will be another 3 years old.

Honestly, I am liking Pixel so much, and my next personal phone might be Pixel 9 Pro.

Also, like you mostly talk about performance, yet... this video test is perfect example. https://youtu.be/YBYvB5P5f_0?si=xUds3qRBNkdbaYlK&t=473 S23 Ultra which is a year-old phone next to new iPhone 15 Pro Max with a chip which have almost twice the raw performance on paper, yet iPhone is literally struggling when pushed, next to a year-old phone with way, way less power. This video absolutely proves it even further of what I been saying and some other people here.

applesvsapples, 30 Dec 2023Literally this. As someone who uses Apple ecosystem and tri... moreiPhone's chip is way faster and it throttles yes, but its throttle performance is close to the Pixel's top performance, what does this mean? The more powerful phones can afford to use less of its full potential yet still get the job done, generating less heat, taking ~the same time, using less battery and increasing the longevity of the phones. And I repeat, I'm talking about the slowing of the phone in long term, people here don't seem to use phones for longer than 6 months or something it seems. Call me a money snob but I'd rather not waste so much money on a "flagship" phone whose chipset is gonna be in a phone that's half the price next year with 90% of the features intact. Unless Google does the Apple and Samsung move and cripples the "a" series, which would be good for business but bad for consumers.
