If we think carefully, most people don't even need that kind spec on smartphone.
Of course, their chip inside is slower and inefficient when compared to others popular options though not that most people will mind.
To me, google is somewhat less greedier than Apple on smartphone business as they're already getting money from advertisement business (and sh*tty as you say for other parts of their business).

In France/Europe, get the Ringke case(s) with MAGsafe, Ringke camera and screen protector.
Anker/Lamicall have a nice 360º MAGsafe ring.

That should change soon, maybe in the 10 series.

This is Google's "iPhone", without a doubt. You'll see that confirmed when t"he 10 series releases. Look up their roadmap for the 10 series.
If you have a Pixel 5, or lower, this is an excellent upgrade.
If you have a Pixel 6 Pro, this is a very good upgrade.
If you have a Pixel 7 Pro, this is an alright upgrade.
If you have a Pixel 8 Pro, this is isn't worth the upgrade.
The same applies if you want the Pixel 9 Pro.
The main difference between the Pixel 8 Pro and 9 series is ;
16GB RAM
Upgraded selfie camera
CPU upgrade for minor performance/autonomy improvement.
If you like customs ROMs, don't forget that you can install GrapheneOS and relock your bootloader, on most if not all Pixel series.
The Pixel 10 series is likely to be a good upgrade for most, across the board, depending on actually changes, specifications-wise.

Pixel phone has so much potential like it can be a direct competitor to the iphones. but with a garbage company like Go*gle giving weak slow tensor chip to this phone is really a cri*e. Never seen a company who give pathetic mid range cpu speed to its flagship phones. and then they want Apple level prices. Hopefully this sH*t company will shutdown soon.

SonyScamNumberOne, 29 Nov 2024It's absurd to expect big upgrades in 1-2 years~. And ... moreIt's not absurd to expect that at all. In the past, phones kept getting huge upgrades every year. Look at the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G ---> S20 Ultra ---> S21 Ultra. The upgrades were HUGE, and yet nowadays we're expected to sit back and not have any meaningful upgrades while the market stagnates further and further, and are still supposed to be grateful that they offer any upgrades whatsoever? Are you insane?
As someone who also owns a Pixel 7 Pro (though with 128GB of storage that is depleting fast, which is the only reason why I feel like I need to upgrade), the Pixel 9 Pro really doesn't offer me enough of an upgrade to justify purchasing it. This is despite me wanting a true flagship phone that is smaller in size, which this definitely covers.
