Gurman: Apple MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and Max chips coming this fall
According to the latest intel by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is already working on new 14" and 16" MacBook Pro's with M2 Pro and M2 Max processors. According to his sources, the updated 14-inch and 16-inch Pros could launch as early as this Fall.
The new M2 Pro and M2 Max processors will inherit the baseline M2's improved performance and likely add on more cores. According to Gurman, the M2 Pro and M2 Max focus will be on the graphics side. The M2 in the 13-inch MacBook Pro and new MacBook Air showed around 11% better single-core performance, close to 20% better multi-core results, and as much as 35% better graphics scores, especially if you go for the 10-core GPU version.
Gurman doesn't expect there to be many changes to the rest of the MacBook Pro hardware. The current 14-inch and 16-inch Pros are not even a year old and brought major upgrades, including a new design, mini-LED displays and MagSafe charging.
Apple could target a Fall unveil for the new MacBook Pro 14 and 16, but it could be forced to delay its launch until Spring 2023 due to the chip shortages.
