Global versions come in only one memory configuration of 6/256 GB. Mine is HLK-L42 sold in India comes minus NFC as this technology is not popular here. This way they can price keep the price low in the super competitive market here.

Enjoy!!!

I have been using this 9X Pro for two weeks now and I am very satisfied. Version 6 / 256GB. I installed all Google applications and all social networks and everything works OK. The main camera has the ability to record 1080p at 60fps and slow motion from 720p to 480fps. It also has NFC and FM radio. It is a global version of the HLK-L41

You may change to (Normal + Default) color profile under display setting which gives a more accurate and warmer color tone. That's not the default mode, though, because people tend to prefer livelier colors. The (Vivid + Default) is the default settings.

                This one is a garbage,
Please boys don't buy I have this one but still without update running on android 9

pane, 19 May 2020HONOR 9X PRO It boast GPU Turbo 3.0 and NINE liquid cooling... moreI will touch base all points you have appreciated with Honor 9X Pro. I have extensively used the phone (Global variant) for almost 3 months now and must admit to be very satisfied with it.

                  1) Construction & Built quality: Built quality of Honor 9X Pro is very good for such a midrange centric device. It has dual glass sandwich construction which gives a premium look, mainly in shimmering "Phantom Purple" color. It is very reassuring to find aluminum alloy side frames coated with color matching plastic running along the sides. I can actually see the metal while removing the SIM card tray or even through USB port. Thus it has much higher torsional rigidity to the chassis, making it harder to bend than plastic side frame or all plastic phones. With 9X Po, Honor have gone one level higher in terms of built quality to its competitors while provided a pleasingm flashy design which I like a lot. I can say at least it has better built quality than my Poco M2 Pro/ Redmi Note 9 Pro and even my friend's Poco X2/ Redmi K30 running full plastic side frames.

                  2) Display: The seamless, color accurate LTPS IPS LCD display found on 9X Pro is of good quality even though limited to @ 60Hz refresh rate and not being an OLED. The biggest plus of 9X Pro's display is the lack of ugly notches, punch holes and even worse case pill shaped cutouts. In short this is a true seamless, FullView display providing superlative multimedia & gaming experience. The display uses Chip On Flip (COF) packaging so as to reduce its chin and sides to bare minimum. I found the display to be bright and in having good legibility under direct sunlight. On the other hand it can go down all the way to 2 nits minimum brightness and comes with TUV Rheinland-certification for eye comfort. I am not a worshiper of power hogging high refresh rate displays, and instead prefer truly color accurate seamless displays. Full marks here.

                  3) Performance: HiSilicon Kirin 810 used in 9X Pro is a beast of an upper midrange SoC with Snapdragon 845 grade performance and even more NPU power. It is based on TSMC 7nm architecture, the same used for Snapdragon 865+. It has substantially better in CPU, GPU & NPU performance than Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G & 730G and Mediatek Helio G95 & G90T, its main competitors. Coupled 6GB LPDDR4x RAM & 256GB UFS 2.1 storage, this midrange phone is blazing fast as any flagship twice its price. Full marks here.

                  4) Thermal Management: For Kirin 810 SoC thermal management 9X Pro comes with dedicated copper heat pipe with liquid cooling. The heat pipe with much beefier metal chassis help 9X Pro to provide sustained high gaming performance by absorbing and dissipating heat from the SoC in an efficient way. I played Asphalt 9 on highest settings for an hour and the phone was able to provide stable frame rates for that long while temperatures of the phone was always under check even during this long gaming sessions. I can’t say the same on my Poco M2 Pro.

                  5) Camera: I found the main rear shooter of Honor 9X Pro using a 48MP, Sony IMX582 Exmor RS sensor with f/1.8 lens. It does not have Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), but then I don't expect for a phone priced at INR 12.75K ($170/€156) to have one. However there is support for Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), which provides much needed video stabilization, sadly upto 1080p. It also has Huawei's Artificial Image Stabilization (AIS) which improved stability while shooting still images under low light conditions. The IMX582 is old but still a good sensor. Coupled with Huawei camera app with its superior image processing under all conditions (well-lit or low light) made the IMX582 work at 100%.

The pictures from the main sensor turns out great with good amount of resolved detail, excellent contrast and well balanced exposure. But my friends Poco X2/ Redmi K30 is undoubtedly better in this area with the mighty 64MP, Sony IMX686 sensor. All in all I was not disappointed with primary rear camera performance on 9X Pro, I will say its closest competitor being Realme 7 & Poco M2 Pro/ Redmi Note 9 Pro. The 8MP secondary sensor with an f/2.4 wide-angle lens is a welcome addition, and takes some acceptable shots under bright conditions. I don't know the use of 2MP depth assist camera at the back. The front pop-up selfie camera is OK at best and turns out adequate for my needs even though I don't use them much. In the end, I want to re-iterate the strength of this phone does not lie in its camera sub-system and performs like other competitors in its price range. For camera performance in this price range, one should gun for Poco X2/ Redmi K30.

                  6) Memory expansion: The global variant of Honor 9X Pro comes with only one memory configuration of 6/256 GB. The unusually high 256GB internal storage is more than enough for every needs, but we have the option to expand the memory by another 512GB with memory card in this phone. This all comes down to ludicrous max 768GB storage and Kirin 810 is powerful enough to churn through millions of files you store on it very fast.

Huawei knew they are going to face a hurricane without Google support, so prepared a double edged sword (Honor 9X Pro) with a level of construction quality, display quality, SoC, performance, storage size unheard in its sub $200 price range. It is a pity that many including me did not realize its potential, but now after using it I know how great the phone is. This is why 9X Pro is now my primary device.

Today received a tiny 98.73 MB OTA update containing Dec, 2020 Android security patch.

                    After update:

                    Model: HLK-L42
                    Android Version: 9
                    Android security patch level: 01-Dec-2020
                    EMUI Version: 9.1.1
                    Build Number: 9.1.1.211

Mine is the 6/256 GB global Honor 9X Pro version. Sadly no Android 10 till now.

GAMIRSFM, 13 Aug 2019I never said im a hater, im just being honest and i would n... moreI am inline with your views.... I too will choose OLED over LCD any-day. But I respect both technologies and both have their pros & cons.

Honor 9X Pro belongs to mid-range budget segment, and here the LCD panels are more cost effective. In short, performance-per-dollar is still better on LCDs.

I find the seamless LTPS IPS LCD panel of my 9X Pro very impressive in the $250 segment. It may not support high refresh rate but it is very color accurate. The panel is big, bright and devoid of any notch or punch-holes thus providing superlative multimedia experience. And by using Chip On Flip (COF) packaging for display the chin is almost non existent.

My OLED clad LG G8X, Vivo NEX S & Meizu 16th are definitely better but they cost thrice that of 9X Pro. Personally I am not much of a worshiper of high refresh rate displays as the advantage of slightly more smoothness comes at the cost of high battery drain.

NanaBongo, 07 Aug 2019Am I the only one or what, it seems the prices of the HONOR... moreXiaomi Redmi K20 Pro/ Mi 9T Pro is clearly the superior device in comparison to Honor 9X Pro. So are the difference in price, K20 Pro costing twice as much as 9X Pro. Here in India, you can get a 9X Pro (6/256GB, Global variant) as low as ₹14K ($190/€158) where as K20 Pro (8/256GB) will cost you ₹28K ($360/€316).

With K20 Pro you get better everything, be it performance, more RAM, AMOLED display, overall built quality, camera sub-system, fast charging, analog audio through headphone jack.

I think it will be unfair to compare both phones considering the price difference, 9X Pro's actual competitor's being Redmi K20/ Mi 9T and even the newer Redmi K30/ Poco X2.

Lstar4real, 30 Aug 2019Honor 9x better than K20 ..but K20 have amoled and good bat... moreThought to share my views as I have used both phones under question.

I have used by friends Xiaomi Redmi K20/ Mi 9T for few weeks and currently using my own Honor 9X Pro (Global) variant. So I will try to share the strengthens of both devices which stood out in my experience:

                          Honor 9X Pro:

                          1) HiSilicon Kirin 810 SoC performance on Honor is on another plane to Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 found in K30. While using both phones you will feel the difference be it CPU oriented tasks or pure gaming. Gaming is awesome on this phone.

                          AnTuTu (v8) Scores by GSMArena:

                          Honor 9X Pro (Kirin 810): 312668
                          Redmi K20/ Mi 9T (Snapdragon 730): 257146

                          2) There is a lot of Artificial Intelligence (AI) going on in this phone. Mainly the camera app is way more intelligent thanks to the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) embedded in Kirin 810, very close in performance to that of flagship Snapdragon 855.

                          3) The phone barely heats up under any circumstances, thanks to the 7nm fab process used in Kirin 810 same as that flagship Snapdragon 855. Also the dedicated copper heat-pipe distributes the heat evenly from the SoC in this phone.

                          3) Global variant comes only in one memory option, 6 GB LPDDR4x RAM & 256 GB UFS 2.1 internal storage. It has noticeably faster read and write speeds than K20 which makes the overall user experience very snappy. 256 GB internal memory is unheard in this price category and also we can add another 512 GB more with memory card expansion option. With Redmi K20 we have to live with 128 GB max with no option for memory expansion.

                          4) For multimedia experience I like big displays, and 9X pro have an excellent LTPS IPS LCD display with very high screen-to-body-ratio.

                          5) A very sturdy, handsome looking metal glass sandwich design. The phone has a metal infused plastic rim, so it feels plastic when holding in hand. However inside the side frame, metal is running all around and you can see it while removing SIM tray & even through USB port.

                          6) Both comes with a 4,000 mAh battery, but 9X Pro is the endurance champ and provides better battery backup. Kirin 810 is not only the best mid-range processor in terms of performance but is a champ in energy consumption too. The AI capability of this SoC when mated with EMUI provides exceedingly long standalone times, as if the phone is switched on but consumes no battery on standby. Excellent.

                          7) A faster and more accurate side mounted fingerprint scanner.

                          8) Price are way cheaper here in India, where the best buy prices of 9X Pro (6/256GB) is INR 14K ($190/€158) where as that of K20 (6/128GB) is INR 20K ($273/€226). After card offers they get even cheaper.

                          Xiaomi Redmi K20/ Mi 9T:

                          1) Look & feels more premium in hand due to metal glass sandwich design and there is no plastic in the side frame to save cost. All you get is bare metal touching your hands which gives a premium in-hand feel. Design is subjective but I think K20 have superior exterior design with symmetrical rear camera array.

                          2) Better camera array both front and rear. Both uses 48MP, Sony IMX582 Exmor RS main rear sensor with f/1.8 lens with no Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The main camera performance in terms of images are nearly identical. The 48MP AI assisted Ultra Clarity mode of 9X Pro is worth noting and have a definitive advantage in terms of resolved details over K20. But where K20 pulls out is 4K video recording capability and overall better videos. The ultra-wide camera of K20 is better than 9X Pro, and it also has telephoto. Hence K20's overall rear camera subsystem is better. On front pop-up selfie camera, there is no competition K20 wins through and through.

                          3) Software situation is better in terms of Android updates as K20 is currently running Android 10 where as 9X Pro is still stuck on Android 9. And there is this situation of 9X Pro not having Google Mobile Services (GMS). But on software stability front, Honor is better the core services never gets hampered by software updates. Xiaomi's MIUI is not that stable.

                          4) Overall a better display, thanks to the use of OLED screen.

                          5) Both have 3.5mm audio jack, but the audio quality is better in K20. The internal speaker is much louder here.

                          6) K20 comes with the support for 18 watts fast charging, while 9X Pro is stuck on 10 watts. But on real life the differences are not that big in charging times. Suppose 30 mins of charge on K20 with supplied 18 watts charger fills 45% of the battery while 9X pro will fill 30% in the same time with supplied 10 watts charger.

                          --

In the end it all boils down to personal preferences, and in my eyes Honor 9X Pro is the clear winner keeping price into consideration. After all price has always been the de-facto standard to measure mid-range phones.

BigDisplay, 27 Jul 2019Ups you forgot one big thing, the phone cost nearly nothing... moreThis is true, for the current price of INR 12.75K ($170/€156) in India, Honor 9X Pro (6/256 GB, Global variant) costs next to nothing.

I find people complaining about lack of first charging in this phone, but to me the supplied 10 watts wall charger is enough for its 4000 mAh battery and ensures better battery longevity. I say charging speeds of Honor 9X Pro is very respectable, I start charging the phone at 20% battery capacity, it takes just an hour to reach 80%. This is enough to take me through a day even under heavy usage.

I find people complaining the phone is heavy at 206 grams (GSMArena value is wrong) with a 4000 mAh battery. But they forget it has the best built quality of all current crop of all plastic mid-range offerings. It has metal-glass sandwich design with aluminium side frames coated with color matching plastic. It has much higher torsional rigidity to the chassis making it harder to bend than all other plastic side frame phones. It has a pop-up selfie camera mechanism which adds more weight. This is there to provide us the huge seamless full view display devoid of any notches, punch holes or even worse pill shaped display cutouts. 9X Pro also comes with a full blown copper heat pipe for SoC thermal management adds more weight to this phone but in return provides more muscle to the Kirin 810 SoC to run at its full potential for a longer sustained period of time.

The seamless, color accurate LTPS IPS LCD display is of very good quality even though it is limited to @ 60Hz refresh rate and is no OLED . Keeping the current price in mind, 9X Pro provides the best display. Period. The display uses Chip On Flip (COF) packaging so as to reduce this chin area and is huge in size to provide superior multimedia & gaming experience which I love. I love color accurate displays and with TUV Rheinland-certification for eye comfort makes it much kinder to my eyes.

All in all in my eyes the I find Honor 9X Pro to be a better device than my Poco M2 Pro/ Redmi Note 9 Pro, Realme 7 & even the Poco X2/ Redmi K30. The only chink in the armor is the lack of Google mobile Services (GMS), and I have learned to live without it. We have the entire Microsoft cloud based eco-system on Android to save us here.

S . SUDHAKAR, 15 Nov 2020Useless 9x pro because : > No dedicated slot for 2 SIMs... moreI find you are a Samsung fanboy, and their is nothing wrong in that.

On the contrary I remain fan of a worthy product irrespective of brand. As I have seen every company betrays their loyal customers at some point due to their own profit.

I was very skeptical before & during the purchase about how I will be able to use this device as it lacks Google Mobile Services (GMS) and hence Google Playstore. Previously I was so heavily reliant on Google eco-system, I could not think of using a phone without my absolute necessary apps like Gmail, Chrome & Keep. This is the first time I ever used a phone devoid of GMS as 9X Pro is solely reliant on Huawei Mobile Services (HMS).

Now I can safely say I can live with it. Inbuilt Huawei AppGallery and authentic Amazon AppStore fulfills 70% of my app needs in this phone. For the rest 30% I get it from ApkPure app store. In this phone I have completely switched to Microsoft Cloud based eco-system. I trust it. Believe me when I say Microsoft eco system is damn good on Android. Just never used it before as I was so accustomed to the Google ecosystem on Android. In my eyes Microsoft is the saving grace on non GMS Android phones.

Apart from the software the Honor 9X Pro is a great phone for its price. It is actually the best phone available in my country for its meager price.

Two weeks back I got hold of a Honor 9X Pro (6/256 GB, Global variant), as they were selling dirt cheap in India @INR 12.75K ($170/€156) for stock clearance.

This is the first time I used a phone devoid of Google Mobile Services (GMS) as 9X Pro is solely reliant on Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). Hence no Google Playstore in this Honor. After using the phone for three weeks without GMS, now I can safely say I can live with it. I changed from:
                                    a) Google Gmail -> Microsoft Outlook
                                    b) Google Chrome -> Microsoft Edge
                                    c) Google Keep -> Microsoft OneNote
                                    d) Google Docs, Sheet, Slides -> Microsoft Office

The Edge browser particularly impressed me. I can safely say it has reached to the level of Chrome, maybe just 2% behind. Everything is as snappy as Chrome but with more added features like Collections tab which I love. In my Windows PC, I synced all my Chrome bookmarks & history to Edge on a second and voila, it is now available on the Edge browser of my PC as well as to Honor 9X Pro thanks to similar cloud based eco-system like Google. In my eyes Microsoft is the saving grace on non GMS Android phones.

Apart from software without GMS, Honor 9X Pro is a great phone for its price. Thanks to my friends, I was able to directly compare it with Poco X2/ Redmi K30, Realme 7, Poco X3 & even Poco M2 Pro/ Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Everything considered, in my eyes only two phones stands out, the X2 & 9X Pro. X2 have better cameras front & rear and GMS. For everything else 9X Pro is better. Now I know the strength of Huawei backing Honor.

Dennis.K, 26 Aug 2019And it still does 1080p recording I found the main rear shooter of my Honor 9X Pro (6/256 GB, Global version) to use a 48MP, Sony IMX582 Exmor RS sensor with f/1.8 lens. It also has Huawei's Artificial Image Stabilization (AIS) which improved stability while shooting still images under low light conditions. The IMX582 is pretty old now but Huawei camera app with its superior image processing under all conditions (well lit or low light) made the IMX582 work at 100%.

The pictures from the main camera turns out great with good amount of detailing, excellent contrast and in having well balanced exposure. But my friends Poco X2/ Redmi K30 is undoubtedly better in this area with the magnanimous 64MP, Sony IMX686 sensor.

All in all I was not disappointed with primary rear camera performance of 9X Pro, I will say its closest competitor are Realme 7 & Poco M2 Pro/ Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Dude , 24 Jul 2019It seems the chin is as big or larger than the 8X... Disapp... moreHonor 9X Pro's chin below the display is slightly smaller than its predecessor 8X. Both used Chip On Flip (COF) packaging for the display so as it reduce this chin. With 9X Pro they have improved on this area, improving screen to body ratio by 1% over 8X. This improvement is without considering the 8X's display notch. If you include this the improvement is nearly 5% over 8X.

The biggest plus of 9X Pro's display is the lack of ugly notches, punch holes and even worse case pill shaped cutouts. This phone has better screen-to-body ratio than my Poco M2 Pro/ Redmi Note 9 Pro (Global), Poco X3 & Realme 7. In this aspect it ties with Poco X2/ Redmi K30 but then K30 has that ugly pill shaped punch hole and is a loser in my eyes. Only my Vivo NEX S with a similar seamless display can beat 9X Pro on this aspect.
