Received a 101 MB FOTA update containing Jun, 2021 Android security patch. After latest update:

EMUI Version: 9.1.1
Build Number: 9.1.1.227

The phone was released back in Aug, 2019 which is exactly 2 years from now. Hope this is not the last update as major Chinese manufacturers stop giving updates only after 3 years.

    Received June monthly security patch on 31 July(HLK - L42).

    Windows 11 native apk support is good, since the Windows market share would attract a lot of Dec's to remove Play Store dependencies,benefiting Huawei indirectly(or maybe it's intentional)

The flagship grade fluidity in operation that Honor 9X Pro (global version) achieves is mainly due to this. From onset 9X Pro has been an unique device for me devoid of GMS. Believe me I like this. Only gripe is Huawei providing quarterly security patch updates to this phone:

        The V9 antutu score jumped to 380k+(for kirin 810, Nova 7 series)

        Another fun fact:The 9x pro loses only to Zenfone 6(in all phones ever existing ) to contain a powerful SOC(A lot others use SD675,P70), Memory card,3.5mm Jack,a pop up and 256GB base .

          Mine is Honor 9X Pro (Global) variant with 6/256 GB memory configuration. Huawei indeed is providing quarterly security patch updates to this phone. I can understand your frustration as we will neither get an Android version upgrade nor GMS.

              Honor 9X Pro (Global) variant software situation comes under sole responsibility of Huawei and not that of new Honor. And it is not a flagship device from Honor so it will receive quarterly security patch updates under the mercy of Huawei.

              Everything translated it all boils down to 9X Pro (Global) variant will remain stuck to Android 9 as it arrived from the factory with quarterly security path upto July, 2022 max (3 years). And no GMS as Huawei is in charge of the software.

                      Is there any way to bypass the permissions when apps are downloaded from petal search. For now, the apps are having unnecessary permissions to view/modify sensitive data, even if it is not required.

                                Bought it! Quick Ram and Large Memory. Not for the people that depend on stupid Google utilities . I used to say that is for people who do. Very Good Receiver. I use Blue Mail and Opera Browser. Viber can be installed and WhatsApp easily cloned .Very Good Camera. I put a rugged cover and go for inspection in the field.Good Phone, but not for slackers!

This phone was shipped with Google Mobile Services (GMS). The Honor 9X Pro is much superior phone than 8X, by a big margin. However its international market success was severely limited with Huawei ban to use GMS. Nobody on the Global market wants to use an Android phone without Google Playstore. In China, all Android phones comes without GMS. So China bound 9X Pro have already received Android 10.

                                  I have found peace with my 9X Pro. I use the Microsoft eco-system on it and works like charm. In the end due to lack of marketing success Honor 9X Pro (Global version) may never receive any Android version upgrades.

                                    Lower #HONOR mobile models, such as #honor8x & #HONOR9X , have received these Android & #EMUI updates, but #HONOR9XPRO (HLK-L42) Global version , the newer, more powerful, and best-selling model, has not received any new updates android & EMUI 10&11 OR #HarmonyOS ...

                                      Last month received a 109 MB OTA update containing Feb, 2021 Android security patch.

                                      After update:

                                      Model: HLK-L42
                                      Android Version: 9
                                      Android security patch level: 01-Feb-2021
                                      EMUI Version: 9.1.1
                                      Build Number: 9.1.1.215

                                      Mine is the 6/256 GB global Honor 9X Pro version. Sadly no Android 10.

                                        Not recommended though,These methods are unofficial/shady and often face multiple bugs and have no preductibility to work in future.
