Anonymous, 22 Nov 2018Do you have honor 2? Because you are making comment No, I will not buy Honor Magic 2 unless they improve the processing of the camera. If they do then I might. I have a theory that they rushed it in time for singles day, hence the less than optimal camera performance. The hardware is there, it's just the result does not hold up as of now.

If it doesn't improve very soon then the Mi Mix 3 is a sure pick for me. It's camera is already very good, and the ceramic back in sapphire blue and jade green look very nice. Even though not as good as the gradient blue honor, which is just so very good looking. Only Honor 10 Lite can match its good looks on the back. Sadly I will feel a need to use a back case anyhow, hiding their good looks, as I always do :-)

Really? 6 cameras, AI but no 60fps@1080? That a big reason for me not to buy this phone. I was ready to order it and then I realised this. I hope it is a software issue

Xiaomi warriors are making clamis that the sliding mechanism stated by xiaom. Im so sick reading comments of those think they really know a thing. Before Android era the there are sliding phones keep that in your small brain. 2nd thing, honor release the phone about 30-40mins ahead before xiaomi and based from the interview the reason they release the honor magic 2 in IFA beacuse a competitor copied the desgin but didn't specify whom. And about the reviews. I felt that the only advantage of honor magic 2 is the ultra wide angle and the ipx2, but all in all I prefer xiaomi mi mix3 offer except the jiggly screen cause I don't like the idea putting case and thats me (for kids out there this is what you called non a bias opinion) fight me!

I have the phone and it is really good (but not perfect yet, need some software updates read below).
First, battery life are quite impressive and this is the main reason i preferred it over the Mix 3 (I wanted full screen no notch phone), as it has bigger battery and the CPU is 7nm so more effecient. The extremely fast charging is also nice, though I'm not really need it as the phone seems to hold 7-8 hours screen time as a part of a full 18 hours working day (fully connected during the whole time).
Slider mechanism feels very quality and stable (and fun!). At the moment you can't define any actions for the slider and you get only default behavior so face unlock and moving to front camera when the camera app is already opened but i would expect them to add an option for customized action (like opening the camera app...).
The camera is providing impressive images outdoor and indoor. The low light night mode works fine but sometimes you need to enable it manually, i was able to get good images from it. I don't have the Mix 3 to compare though.
The device is very fast. I was very impressed with the browser speed (using Chrome) and faster than SD845 devices. The UI is also smooth and fast, however i believe similar to the experience SD845 provides. I can't really tell about 3D as I'm not playing games much but i think since both Magic 2 and Mix 3 have only FHD resolution, you wont find any game that will challenge both.
The in screen finger print sensor requires some work. First you get quite a lot of misses, after a while you better understand how to "place" your finger to get much higher success rate but it is still not as high as standard back fingerprint sensor (also when it is in the back you dont need to look where to place the finger as you can feel the sensor edges, unlike in screen fingerprint sensor). I hope they will improve it in a software update. The face unlock however works very good and fast (and its always fun to play with the slider).

People are making comment but they don't have the phone

FT seemed biased becuase the Honor takes very bad photos, which he completely glosses over and claims otherwise, whilst the Xiaomi even keeps up with Mate 20 pro in some areas. Even the night shot he kept bringing up on the honor looked awful even on his phone. So much noise and every other review shows how weak the camera is in Magic 2.

The Magic 2 disappoints in camera and as far as Kirin 980 vs SD845 I'd take the SD845 with it's adreno 630. CPU wise they are both super quick and either one doesn't really matter. But adreno has better game support and performance than Mali.

Many enough battery tests has proved that the Xiaomi performs stellar on battery life as well.

Buddy, 17 Nov 2018Too expensive. Only competitive at $400$400 for a phone with the current fastest Android chipset? Okay.....

Perhaps you should get the Mi Mix3 if that's your budget, it's closer to $400, but it's badly built and the screen jiggles. Although the SD845 isn't as good as the Kirin 980, it's still a very good chipset. Smaller battery with slower charging (it's still pretty damn quick though), better camera but lacks an ultra wide lens. And it comes with a free wirelss charger. I probably would have considered it if it had an ultra wide lens, and if I didn't already have a Samsung wireless charger.

8GB ram is far faater then 4 gb ram.
Kirin 980 is far superior to SD 845 and is both faster in real life and in all benchmarks.
Xiaomi didn't invent sliding phones and Magic 2 was announced before Mi mix 3, by your own logic Mi Mix 3 copyed Magic 2

Honor uses different sliding tech than Xiaomi, and sliders aren't new. And Frankie Tech did a comparison, the Xiaomi slider shakes when playing games, it is not solid in some (if not all) units.
And Honor never claimed to use Leica lenses. That's a Huawei Mate/P series thing.
This commenter also doesn't understand RAM, I'm guessing. But most importantly, obviously the 980 is better than the SD845 because it's several month newer. People who keep trying to compare them need to face basic realities: one is more developed. The new SD chip will be even better, and then the new Kirin will beat that. Like what else were you expecting???
