Super Android 22, 08 Jan 2024Its because they cannot grasp the concept of business and R... moreThere's no reason to downvote a comment that makes complete sense. Companies remove that feature because they noticed already that most people don't care about these features being removed and they can still remove it. Their goal is to make profit spending the less amount of money, so removing these features save them a lot during manufacturing. Features like that are not likely to return (unless some government forces them to do it, but I don't see how this could be possible)
Every new device, even mid rangers or budget ones are losing these options, so it's better to accept the fact it will not come back, or just get a second hand phone with these features

justasmile, 07 Jan 2024The two down votes from those time travellers is truly a ba... moreIts because they cannot grasp the concept of business and RnD costs and managing spend vs profit and will fight it through pure stubbornness.
They also cant grasp the concept that people wanting sd card and a jack is the very very few minority and having a better overall working device is better (and last longer) than skimping on other parts just for those features (i think they think its like 50p to make millions of devices and the hours and RnD and factory hours that costs MILLIONS that go in to making each device is basically free, no one needs paying and buying parts is free too and expect £200 phones with every feature under the sun).
I would love them to go to any company that makes phones and speak to the actual engineers and people designing the devices on why, they will get the exact same response. Only about 2 companies that could get away with this financially and able to have lower priced devices is samsung and apple and if they dont do that feature others wont because it shows you can make more profit doing it this way and need to stay relevant and competitive financially (which everyone sees the monopoly of those 2 companies, if you do an lg or old HTC and even Nokia, you will fail very quickly, its like people are blind to any of this, watch ill get done voted even though this is literally how the market has gone).

Pampam666, 05 Jan 2024Why it's sad, because people post their valid criticis... moreBecause literally about 5% of all phone users are still sd card or jack users (my mates got a cheap phone with a jack, NEVER uses it and the DaC will be so bad it'll be average at best quality).
Literally buy wireless buds for £2, about £5 for overheads if all you want is to listen to music and dont care about quality (because unless you're spending thousands on your phone, dac and headphones its going to make very very little difference in quality (my BT headphones and find x5 will produce far better quality sound than a cheap phone with a cheap DaC with even £300 wired headphones).
SD cards just aren't worth it anymore unless you need it for your job which most likely, you'll be supplied the device. Most cards have slow speeds for read and write (if you're spending £20 on a card) and the ones worth buying (good speeds) cost more per GB vs a portable SSD or just using the money for paid cloud storage which both will also be more reliable/safer. Its either better parts or spending money on RnD, CAD models/renders and bigger design teams just to make a high yield phone shell that has those slots (sd and jack) to then hire more people to manage and test the parts and if they'll fit.
Thats basically the hard truth at this price point and unfortunately companies that sell £1000 flagships are just greedier and want more profit, well they need to to keep up with the amount of devices and money samsung, google and apple spend (multitudes of times more than other companies probably combined).

Pampam666, 05 Jan 2024I agree, i dont know why so many brands are afraid of stere... moreWell if its being sold close to around 260 euros then i really dont know why youre complaining.
They need to make profit, the main features use relatively expensive parts like an 8g1+ chip, 108mp cam that'll do better 2x zoom pics and probably UW pics than cheap dedicated UW or telephoto sensors, a 10 bit 1200p screen, ultrasound proximity sensor, 256gb storage and 12gb ram base config and a 5800mah battery and you're complaining about no stero speakers.
i doubt theyve put millions in to developing the mono block for the possibly millions of devices they are going make, thats not including the cost for RnD for the parts, making sure they stay efficient and cool. Stereo speakers are a nicety when having a decent multi functional cam, an enjoyable screen to use (main feature of ANY phone now and tablets and laptops), basically 2021/22 flagship performance and accurate sensing for your phone makes the overall experience better (at this price, i bet they make basically no profit as it is).
You want a device with it all, go spend £1400 on an xperia or RoG phone or go buy a stero speaker phone that charges half as fast, has a 720p lcd screen, probably a mediatek g85 SoC and mediocre at best camera set up with virtual proximity sensing, 4gb of ram and ufs 2.1 storage speed.

Why you casual users can't understand that the lack of sd cards and 3.5mm jack is a big thing for many people, features that have no legit reason to miss from a media device, besides brands ripping us off?

I believe this is like an ROG Phone but for Honor, if it's indeed dedicated for gaming then this is actually good putting aside the less decent camera setup. The battery is also 5800mAh like c'mon
