Anonymous, 25 Feb 2016I do not like Lumia since owned by MS, Nokia Lumia is much ... moreThe very same Lumia-engineers, team leaders and managers
in the very same Building in Espoo, Finland.
It was news here when a hired co. changed the sign on the roof.
Also the papers now have "Microsoft" - or rather MS Mobile Oy" in the corner
instead of the old "Nokia" or "Nokia Devices and Services"
I still love the Lumia products from Microsoft Mobile,
but I think this Hewlett Packard Elite is at this moment THE flagship!

AnonD-510929, 04 Mar 2016Move over Android! (maybe) Wow, this phone is PACKING! Woul... moreI've owned a Lumia 950 for a couple of weeks now. Don't get too excited. Windows 10 Mobile isn't at the same quality level as Windows 10 PC.
Windows 10 Mobile is still buggy as heck and it crashes more than just occasionally. External storage has been a bit buggy as well. There is also a big app gap with the Windows 10 Store in general.
Strangely enough, if you asked me 3 years ago whether I would recommend Windows Phone 7.8, I would on a whim. Fast forward 3 years and I'm not so sure whether I'd recommend Windows 10 Mobile, especially in its current state. Maybe on basis of the UWP ethos, but is that really a good reason?
If you buy into the Windows 10 ecosystem, you should be there for the long haul. At the moment, this HP phone looks like your best bet. One thing is for sure though: I wish I had that laptop thing for university. Definitely would've lightened up my backpack...

Move over Android! (maybe) Wow, this phone is PACKING! Would have liked to see 128gb internal but I THINK Windows handles external storage better than Android? Can someone elaborate on this? I purchased a macbook pro to see what the fuss was about and wound up installing Windows 10 since I really didn't like OS X. I really like Windows 10! While I like Android for my phone, it sure can be buggy and don't get me started on their tablets! This has the size and options I've been looking for in a long time. I'm going back to school and the phone/laptop would be perfect! I'm hoping HP might offer the Elite X3 at a lower price point or offer bundles/discounts with the dock or the laptop. I'd give this a try if the incentive was good enough! Does the mobile extender have a touch screen?

Jeff, 02 Mar 2016Just think it this way, if Lumia devices fail in the market... moreJust think it this way, Microsoft is just making devices like the nexus program of google, they bought Nokia but they never mind been the new Nokia (crazy i know), they show OEM how their products should be, they have been doing the same with the Surface line.
Microsoft can't compete with their own partners, partners that have been a lot of time before the postPC era like HP. They want their partners making the hardware so they can focus making the software, that's their business, software and services.
"if Lumia devices fail in the market and Microsoft incurs a big loss" they already have big money drains with Lumia (and not so long ago also with Surface). In any short or mid run Microsoft pretends to shut down its mobile OS, is to much important in their long run plans, UWP won't be complete without mobile market.
"...but if it is priced too low..." in NO way will be priced too low, it's enterprise focus, it won't be cheap, also, (and now i'm just guessing) it'll only be sell with 2 accessories (that's why there is the x3 thing in the name, use it as 3 devices instead of 1) that would bump up its price.
There are several posts in windows central explaining microsoft's plans in the long run for mobile (and their fail in the past explaining why they are in so bad position right now), your logic isn't that bad, but they are doing things different now, brand new things and we always scared about new unknowns things.
For the device, i just love it, i didn't like the L1520 because its size, but with all that power and features, the size really doesn't matter for me (i rather smaller phones, i didn't bought the L1520, i when for the Lumia Icon and i feel is to big also for me, i'll rather 4.2" - 4.7" devices).

It uses snapdragon 820.. So the windows installed is not your desktop OS... That means everything they say about it being a notebook/desktop is a big fat lie.. Don't be fooled

Today notebook are over, why to have notebook and Smartphone, when we can have both in one. And in this case you need bigger screen higher than 5' to work everywhere. So it's good positioning for future. For example Lenovo is making more money with Smartphone and tablet than traditional PC market.

AnonD-110632, 02 Mar 2016And how is that not great for consumers? I really don't see... moreJust think it this way, if Lumia devices fail in the market and Microsoft incurs a big loss and discontinue Lumia then be sure that there would be a big probability that they would also discontinue Windows Phone OS.
Who gonna roll up all Windows Phone updates after that?
This phone is no doubt good but if it is priced too low to take over both Lumia 950 and 950XL then it will essentially sabotage the flagships of Lumia range and guess what if Lumia fails then be sure Microsoft would very soon drop Windows Phone from its portfolio.

And how is that not great for consumers? I really don't see an argument here. If the price is lower and the specs higher, it only means the 950 is overpriced. I don't mind this device. HP, you had me at Bang & Olufsen.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2016THANK YOU HP....... Microsoft please take note of how to pl... moreThe phone is great but I've to say right now HP surely has a rather crooked market policy. It buys OS licence from Microsoft but then instead of co-existing with Microsoft's own devices they try to destroy the market of Microsoft's devices. They tried to destroy the market of Surface Book by unveiling almost similarly specced but lower priced Spectre X360 and now they gonna try to sabotage the market of Lumia 950 and 950XL with this phone. Speak of absolute backstabbing market policy, these guys would receive an Oscar.

AnonD-506552, 26 Feb 2016damn...if these specs is found in an android phone it will ... moreWell as far as I know there's a brand called LeTV who has unveiled a 6.33 inch Android smartphone with same specs (except that it has an IPS screen instead of OLED) but it is way too big, fat and bulky than Elite X3 and the brand is quite new in the market so I'm kinda skeptical about its quality and after sales service, other than that it is rumoured that ZTE X8 is gonna have the same specs and would have a 6 inch bezel-less screen.

Judging by the looks of this phone, one thing is quite clear. HP is clearly aiming for the business and corporate crowd. For youngsters the looks of this phone may not be that cool and flashy but yeah the simple look of this phone is perfect in business and corporate environment. This phone has the potential to appeal more matured customers who prefer more formal looking phones, most probably the ones who swear by their Blackberry right now would love to buy this phone.
