I need a help, thinking seriously about buying this phone. I am currently using HTC One M8s for three years now. With all the problems it has with battery and mid-range SOC in SD 615, i thought I will never buy HTC again. I am not much of a camera or a game person in a mobile device. I basically bought it for sound and unfortunately, the audio jack claimed 3 headphones so far, so the audio is close to useless for me as I do not want to insert my sony headphone in it. Also the quality of reception has gone down considerably. I can hardly hear the other end when outdoor.
Anyway, back to the point. This phone is available for 141 euros but I am a bit concerned about SD 810. This price makes me feel that, its a mere compromise and being a light user, I can use this device easily for 1.5 - 2 years and will be due for future devices. I am on very tight budget for now. My biggest concern, however, is the lack of 3.5 mm jack for audio. For that price point, I doubt the online store will provide an earphone. In the box, it says, device, cable and charger only. I looked up for earphone for this device on ebay and to my surprise, nothing. If I have no option for using earphone, this phone is a no go for me. In terms of looks, it looks fantastic, only complain, bottom front with poorly placed fingerprint/home button. Lots of empty space between screen and home button. For 141, still a mere compromise.
On the other hand, Nokia 8 is priced at 299 euros and has future proof SD 835, 3.5 mm jack. Not sold on the front bottom of this device either, but the performance of the SOC will be much more fluid in comparison, I believe. Also I read the battery life is great in Nokia 8. If I buy Nokia 8 I could easily use it for next 3 years, but don't like the idea of using single device for that long anymore after current device. Life's too short lol. With tight budget, I am more inclined towards HTC 10 Evo as it looks fantastic overall with QHD screen. Hence, please advice me guys, with news app every now and then and music, is this device a good temporary fix? And does the HIFI DAC only work with the default earphone or the device has HIFI DAC built-in the phone? I am more into music and news than camera and games. Thanks for advice.

Sadly there was no Ir Blaster in this device and battery is not removeable. That's way i choose lg v10 to replace my htc m8 that has battery problem that hard to replace it. I wish htc could release device like htc bolt that has bigger screen, removeable battery, better chipset, 3.5mm jack, ir blaster and ip68 water resistant. Maybe htc will get more user fans again.

in cpu z the battery is li- polymer not li - ion you guys write it li - ion , li - polymer is better than li - ion .. yes this phone is heating but not heat so bad because every phone must be heating when we using it right.. so far so good, the big disappointing thing is the usb type c adapter to jack 3.5 is only supporting for htc adapter accessories

Gorz, 07 Mar 2018How do you know for sure that it won't get an 8.0 update?Does indeed heat up during normal use (browsing, charging), and does not have android 8.0. Also fair bit of bloatware that I wasn't used to from having Nexus devices previously, but I assume that is pretty standard with most devices...

This phone should be renamed as htc m9 evo! It has the same gpu/cpu/chipset/ram as in htc m9 but upgraded to a qhd larger dsiplay, water resistance, more battery capacity, fingerprint scanner, ois and better camera in general, android 7 out of the box, usb type c, and sadly removed the aux jack.. i have been using my htc m9 for 2 years now and my opinion on sd810 is just fine, tbh it overheats some times in excessive gaming and video recording, rarely shows some lags on high graphics games, i think it's an average processor for a high end phone, but everything works fine in day to day uses and multitasking...a short conclusion, m9's performance with better features!
