I can confirm that my HTC Desire can receive and send files via Bluetooth to other handsets other than HTC. (I tried this on my wifes nokia phone without any issues).
I tried this with an mp3.

Hi, I got my new desire 5 days back overall a nice phone, I am facing a problem that when I use the phone for 15 minutes or longer continuosly the bottom of the handset and screen gets quite hot. I put a screen protector on the display when I got it, is it the protector causing the problem or there is some other problem or its by default? plz anyone do reply

Hi All, This is a warning for those who plan to buy HTC desire from any Middle East country. The phoen is preloaded with a lot of programmes which you will not be able to inactivate or delete.One programme called Al-Moazin keeps you reminding the prayer timings.But even if you put to Airplane mode this will keep checking for local time.This runs in the background.The problem is that it drains a lot of battery charge and for me the charge hardly lasts for 18 hrs even with very minimal use.I am totally upset about this.We all know the prayer timings and this programme is not at all required.I contacted the local HTC service centre and they informed me it cannot be inactivated.The only thing that is possible is to mute this.The performance of the phone is very poor because of such programmes.To remove this you have to root the phone which breaks the warranty.So beware of this trap.

I just had a prompt on my Desire telling me there was a new update.2.29.405
It was approximately 4mb so downloading it via 3g was no big deal and took seconds.
So far one of the additions is the window that appears when you type something in a search bar. An example would be the search bar at the top right of this site.
The suggestion window seems alot bigger making it easier to select what you need.
Other than that I've not noticed anything else.

I have a 16GB memory card on my handset. When ever i connect the handset to my Windows 7 Laptop I get a error message that the Unit is not recognized. Can anyone help or suggest for solutions?

Hey guys, I'm not very tech savvy with phones but what I am after is a mobile I can sync my contacts and calender events on my work Outlook Express to my phone. Inparticulat a phone which displays that days meetings on my phones main screen as an app or something!
hope this makes sense (i think i saw a pic of the upcoming Nokia E7 with it). Look forward to hearing whats available!

htc quietly brilliant logo on startup
this means its branded rom(also non rooted)
is this possible to update 2.2 placing update.zip folder to root of SD for official rom if yes then where i will get update folder?

The sound is very good through a decent pair of headphones though. (just very tinny through the loudspeaker).

sound quality is decent just ensure you use winamp player along with other headphone rather then the original htc.
screen in sunlight works well if brightness is adjusted to suitable needs.
Bluetooth works normally (sending & receving) on 2.1 or 2.2
