sound quality is decent just ensure you use winamp player along with other headphone rather then the original htc.
screen in sunlight works well if brightness is adjusted to suitable needs.
Bluetooth works normally (sending & receving) on 2.1 or 2.2

When upgraded to Android 2.2 (Fro Yo),does the HTC Desire become perfectly able to play DivX and XVid videos?How is its screen quality,in aspects of contrast,viewing angles,color rendition and sunlight legibility?Also,please state its sound quality.Please reply friends.

Just bought mine today.
I have the White version which looks awesome !
So far the only negative point I have to make is the very poor quality in the loudspeaker when playing the rintones.
Display is clear and the colours are vivid (red colours for example are bright and vibrant).
Sound quality through the headphones are crystal clear (I am using Bose ones).
I purchased mine from the Carphonewarehouse and mine came with 2.2 Froyo already as standard.
Trying the full Youtube site I was really impresed with the quality of the video playback.
Mine has the s-led screen as opposed to the amoled.

Is there any way to check whether the HTC Desire is used or brand new while purchasing? In NOKIA there is some mechanism to check the lifetime. I need tic for Desire

Hey. Well between the Desire and Desire HD,
It all depends on your preference of pros and cons . I am actually at the same position and did a lot of research. If you dont mind the extra cost, a bit heavier, about 12 hours battery life for medium usage then you should go for the Desire HD. It comes with more ram and rom with the new HTC sence and will probably get new software upgrades faster. I think the desire may not get anymore(if not very late).
But I will wait till Q2 to buy a high end phone because all the new phone will come out after the world mobile conference in February. They will introduce all the new high end phones with dual-core and the HTC desire 2 is rumored to be released soon. Older cells will also be expected to reduced in price.

I'm interested in buying htc desire since it's price has already gone down to the point that i'm willing to pay for. I'm just waiting for this year's MWC announcements, and hoping that another alternative with new hardware at the same price bracket will be released in the nigh future.
Still problematic. I want the best choice, and it's really hard when there's so many to choose from. Given that i'm budgeting doesn't make it any easier.

hi friends, 35hrs.of battery use with 45min of WiFi.....some 28msgs sent...2 hrs..of talk...obviously not continuous....STILL NOW I HAVE 25% LEFT....WHICH MAY LAST FOR 2hrs.on internet use....standby may give 5hrs. more...its also my first experience until I downloaded........J.Def..its great

hayato, 27 Jan 2011can desire be updated up to honeycomb?Honeycomb hasn't even been released yet, and Google have hinted it's only for Tablet anyway.
No ones officially if it will get Gingerbread yet, although plenty of us have/are using is via a rooted device and custom rom.

I wanna buy a desire. I didn't use android phone yet. How can I check the android version (2.1 or 2.2)? Currently desire is shipped with LCD screen not AMOLED. Is there any technique to check the screen type while buying?
