Why is it that my htc desire hangs as in it is suddenly turning on and off?

In Australia, the Desire is sold by Telstra and their dealers, and uses their 3G band (850). The specs here show that this phone only supports 900 and 2100 in 3G, but the Aus version definitely supports 3G on 850.
One rumour is that this was a special arrangement between Telstra and HTC, - "You make this phone compatible with our network and we'll buy one metric shedload of them..."
It's a pain in the tail, because in Australia the only half-decent network is run by Telstra, but a lot of the good phones don't support 3G on 850. If we want the Desire HD or the Desire Z, we have to tolerate the patchiness of Optus, Three or Vodaphone, because they run 3G on 900. If these 900-based phones are connected to the Telstra network, they only get 2G, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a 3G phone. It's pretty much the only way Optus and Vodaphone can get customers, I think, - because they get the cool handsets, and their users are prepared to put up with the inadequacies of their network (when compared to Telstra) in order to have the good handsets.

nm, 16 Nov 2010Users please compare n8 with htc desire (not desire hd) on... moreof course the desire is better for games, internet, resolution[screen]., multimedia, android os also, appearance, bigger screen, if u want music the n8 is better,and camera.

Has anyone else found a problem with the Bluetooth on this phone?
I have a bluetooth hands free speaker device in my car which all my other phones automatically connect to when Bluetooth is on, once set up once. But this phone does not automatically connect, and when I try to manually connect it it removes the device from my list of paired devices and has trouble pairing with it at all.
The loud speaker on this phone is not great so I really need this to work. Anyone who has experienced this and overcome this please please help me.

NO, I repeat NO
With Froyo you really don't need one, the phone now takes care of everything. System Panel is good to see whats going on and perform a force close if needed, but Task Killer will now use more battery than letting Froyo d it's memory management job.
