I own Desire as well as Iphone 3GS. No wonder Desire is an excellent phone, but I have a few problems with it. Primary problem is the battery which just sucks big time. I have done all the required settings like manual sync, no wifi and BT, even reducing the display to minimum, but still I need to charge it twice a day. Iphone gives me two comfortable days even with wifi on most of the time.
Secondly the camera has got the well documented split screen bug, but unfortunately we in Pakistan, do not have the facility to get replacements for phones not imported under warranty.
Thirdly, web browsing experience is better in Iphone as well, because Desire brings up web pages slowly on same wifi connection. As we do not have 3G services here yet, so my point of reference is wifi.
I was thinking of trading either of the 2 sets for the upcoming N8, so I gave them a full go for the past week. I have made up my mind, Desire though one of the most aesthetically crafted phone, would make way for N8, whenever it arrives here.

... moreYa i know x10 have the update... what i was trying to ask is whether your HTC phone now is android 2.1 os, is the message tone customizable or it can only use the standard built-in tone? another question is whether if i select the incoming message alert tone with a full mp3 songs, will your phone play the entire whole mp3 songs for incoming message alert???

A few blogs quoting min 1Ghz Processor required. Should upset those who get the Desire Z over the Desire :)

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2010i finally decided to buy the desire ... but am a bit worrie... moreno body knows about the gingerbird .. since most of the android devices are just getting froyo so i expect it to appear at the end of 2010 or 2011 begining. about desire... its a very nice cell phone only downfall battery life it give me day and a half( although since im new i keep playin games and apps all the day) so u cant root ur desire which is very very very easy.. and then u can have App 2 SD :) there are so far no Lags in use. all my 7 home screens are filled with alot of widgets!!! best thing is all of them keep updating themselve!!! speed is also ok.. no problems there. im not saying its a very very fast phone but that statement wouldnt matter coz there is no fast phone :) its response is perfect. i have installed custom rom 2.2 its perfect no problems at all.. market is updating my all apps and games... i have more then 30 games and apps and i have more then 50 mb spare !!! so i guess thats enuf i dont want all the apps or games of the world in my cell.. so in my opinion if u like a good UI with responsive touchscreen go for htc its the best there is... SAmsung is also a good choice but its built is very poor i wonder why Europe gave it the best smartphone of the year 2010. its like china mobiles :S with worst body....hope i have answered the questions... sorry for any spelling mistakes ;)

i finally decided to buy the desire ... but am a bit worried... i heard that on android 2.1 its not possible to install apps on sd card, its only possible on 2.2 .. however, am living in the middle east and the 2.2 update isnt released here yet .. so am i goin to be stuck with the phone's rom to install apps till 2.2 comes out.
oh and btw , is the desire goin to be updated to android gingerbread .. any news on that ?
