Hi everyone out there, sorry to enter this opinion while i am not using a htc device. but i know you guys and gals phone are android 2.1 os. while i m using x10 mini.... just want your guys and gals opinion out there, for now my x10mini(android 1.6) able to play the incoming sms tone the whole song(if i upload a mp3 file on it), therefore, would this still able to work after we upgrade to android 2.1? or after upgrade we only need to use the built-in tone or only play a few sec of our selected mp3 as sms incoming alert???
Also will it affect the schedule tone as well... As i am very satisfied with this x10 mini able to use own sms tone which able to play the whole entire mp3 songs... any one can give advice on this before i upgrade it later....
For you guys and gals, is your HTC desire the same as mine able to play the whole songs for the incoming sms alert and schedule alert???
Please advice.

Hello
I think this phone. But new Htc phones will have not amoled capasity touch scren. It will be Slcd screen. But I cant see that speciality on this web site.
Anyone can explain that?

I finally got this phone and after 15 days of use I feel that I can bought best in the market every thing is best except battery life. I think u have to compromise with any drawbacks. Samsung galaxy S is also good phone but its built quality is not good Cheap plastic like Chinese phone with very Smart features and forget n8 its never competing galaxy and desire.

Here is my opinion between Desire and Galaxy which I added a few days ago .
Internet browser- HTC desire has a much better browser simply because can play flash videos of most format.I think Galaxy S should get flash 10.1 in froyo update but for now DESIRE is best for browsing the net.
Galaxy S VS HTC Desire
This is my own opinion having owned bot handsets.
Calls- I find the Galaxy S to have much better call signal and reception overall.On my Desire I found a constantly crackling noise in the background and poor signal most of the time.( Vodafone is my provider and normally good)
Loudspeaker- Again Galaxy wins this by miles as Desire has probably worst mic/speaker I have came accross on a phone.
Interface-Desire wins hands down with HTC Sense and overall much more user friendly.
Speed-Desire again wins on this sections being much quicker navigating around the phone and has no lag what so ever whereas Galaxy does lag from time to time.
Battery life- Galaxy wins this sections by a long way. I really struggled to get 1 day from Desire but Galaxy can go for 2 days with all extras open and ful brightness.
Video player-Both screens looks amazing but Galaxy wins this section and still to come accross a file that Galaxy S will not play.
Camera- This is a tough call, Galaxy wins for photo performance but without flash can cause problems sometime.
WIFI- Excellent on both phones and probably same performance.
Video recording. GALAXY BY MILES-quality is stunning on recording video in good light but because quite poor in low light but that can be expected.
Desire has terrible video quality even when upgraded to Froyo and sound when recording was WORST I HAVE EXPERIENCED ON ANY HANDSET.
Sound on Galaxy S when video recording is just acceptable but nothing as good as Nokia N95 or most nokia phones whcih is a shame, Why develope such amazing HD video with average sound.
I hope this will help some decide which phone is best for there needs.

[deleted post]both r great phones smartphones but i think xperia x10 is better in multimedia capabilities n x10 is a unique device n so much different from other android phones n although htc desire is also a very good

Has anyone tried installing JRE. There browser doesn't support it i guess. Any ideas?

Dear All
I Finally got my Desire last week
Tell you the Truth, this is way far better than any Nokia i ever used (Last was E72).
The Internet browsing is super, the cam shots are awsom, the battery life is one day or may be two with nothing but voice calling to do.
The only problem i face is uninstalling one of the preset Apps. that came with the device, mine is still working with Android V2.1 and no clear date for update to froyo yet (Egypt).
So, please any body if you could help me on that?
