TC, 29 Sep 2010You miss my point. I have already moved all apps to the sd-... moreThat is correct. Even if you move the apps to SD card, there are still a small amount left in the phone memory. However, this small amount is on average less than 0.5MB. Having a total internal memory of 148MB, this allows us to have more than 100 apps easily on the phone.

I do however agree on the point that more internal storage would be better served on Desire. There are certain apps that you may prefer to run from the phone memory. This fills the internal storage quickly.

I have already moved all apps to the sd-card but the problem is that all apps still need to install some parts on the internal memory so it is impossible to install more than 100 apps on the phone because the available internal meory is only 136 mb. Even if I, you or anybody, move ALL apps to the sd-card they ALL still leave parts on the small 136 mb internal memory, and that limits the amount of apps that can be installed. Why not tell the truth about this, HTC made a big misstake when they installed this small internal memory. The point of having a remoweable sd-card is to be able to REMOWE it and put another one in... but when I install my apps on sd-card I have to have that specific sd-card in my phone all the time so HTC Desire does not really have a "removeable" sd-card.

Travelmonk, 29 Sep 2010Hi all, Just bought the HTC Desire and its a dream to u... moreHi,

You can NOT installed Froyo on computer n then on mobile, otherwise everybody on the earth would have done that, if it was so easy.

Also, I also updated Froyo, it WONT install on phone memory, it is 139 MB I suppose when U bought it, and it will remain the same even after updating to 2.2 too.

So do not worry and enjoy the 2.2 update.

A suggestion, do not download via GPRS, as it will take too long and over heats the phone, as I didnt have a WIFI handy at that moment and downloaded thru GPRS.

                  Hi all,

Just bought the HTC Desire and its a dream to use the phone, however, their service sucks in India... Its Pathetic.... I had a question which the guy at HTC could not answer kept me on the hold and then disconnected the phone.....very sad...

Please help me all you fellow users.

The Phone prompts me for two types of System software update. The first message says that States that " Your phone is up to date, There are no updates available for your phone" The second message says " A System update is available... Update : Android 2.2 and HTC Sense update 93.2 MB"

                  My question is :

                  1) Can i get update the phone to Android 2.2 from the Computer by first downloading through internet on the phone and then upgrading it on the Phone"
                  2) If 1st choice is not avaialble then, can i download it on the SD card or i have to download it on phone memorey only ?
                  3) If if take action no.2 then after upgrading the phone.. can i delete the upgrade from phone memory or it will remain on the phone memory

                  Pls help

TC, 28 Sep 2010How did you install 100 plus apps/games, I have app2sd and ... moreIf you skip a few large non-movable apps, like Nimbuzz, then you can move almost all apps to SD. If that is not enough, you can use alternative apps that are movable (I don't have to).
I'm not going to list all my apps here, but in general, almost all games I play (Angry birds, Gameloft Games, Fruit Pirate, Jewels, etc...) are on SD card. Similarly, the apps I use (RockPlayer, Laputa, ES File Explorer, Google Sky Map, AndroZip, Barcode Scanner, etc, etc...) are all on SD.

On average, the apps are 2-3MB large. If there is one that you absolutely need, but it is still non-movable, you can send a message to developer requesting him to update the application so that it can be moved.

vky, 28 Sep 2010hey thanks for the reply...well i dnt have ICICI CC i hve... moreThe battery is a concern.

On my Nokia E-72, GPRS was 24 hrs own and Ovi/Nokia messaging service was working 24 hrs a day and making my email work & NO battery issue even if I do not charge for 2 days.

BUT in HTC Desire, Battery is a Problem. It doesnt conk off very soon, but yes, if charged fully and used for fair amount of calling & GPRS usage in a day, then it needs charging by the end of the day.

So, I keep my GPRS OFF quite often when not using it in order to use the phone.

Other than that, I was a BIG FAN of Nokia E series, but after working on HTC Desire & then on Android, its a BIG TIME entertainment too.

Every handset has few Pros & Cons.

Pros are many - like I have mentioned before in this column, Touchscreen, Android 2.2 SLED/AMOLED....

Cons - Battery Life and "a bit" of heat on battery area felt when used GPRS for long.

Does anyone know, the next upgrade from Froyo to Gingerbred will increase the Desire's video recording quality?
Within a 60"recording,it lags almost 4-5 times if the fps is lower than 24(which is very often even in sunny weather).I'm very disappointed.
