SS, 27 Aug 2010I get that you love Samsung Galaxy S, but why do you pose y... more"* Desire is more pocketable, so more suited for daily usage." - also Desire has a smaller screen, what would you expect
    * Desire already has OS 2.2 (Froyo), while Galaxy S is still in OS 2.1." - it's a matter of time until Galaxy will have 2.2
    * Desire has the fantastic HTC Sens UI, which is in every aspect better than Samsung Touchviz.
"* Desire is cheaper!" - because Desire hasn't inside the hardware that Galaxy has!
    * Desire has a better build quality.
    * Desire has HTC Support, which is better than Samsung support.
    * Desire has less issues than Galaxy S (GPS, memory, lags, buggy SW and drivers, etc...)" - I heard about bugs on Desire and bugs on Galaxy, so it's a problem of software, updates will clear them.
"* Desire has a bit more RAM than Galaxy S." - a bit, can't see the diference in real life
"* Desire has a camera LED flash, which is missing in Galaxy S." - not so important for some people

    # Galaxy S has (maybe the most important advantage, for daily use!!!)Super AMOLED 4 inch display, bigger than your 3,7" more pocketable amoled only with poor sunlight view.
    # Galaxy S has 8 GB/16GB storage (Desire hasn't any internal), 2GB ROM (Desire only 512; 2 GB of ROM will be ready for installing future versions of Android, sure for Android 3.0)
    # Galaxy S has HSUPA at 5.76 Mbps (Desire only 2 mbps)
    # Galaxy S has Bluetooth v3.0 (Desire only v2.1 - a lot slower bitrate)
    # Galaxy S has VGA secondary camera - you can video-call (Desire has not and can not!!!)
    # Galaxy S has DivX video playback out-of-the-box, no need for other videoplayer/codec (because the ARM A8 Cortex CPU is a feature processor, on a architecture with dedicated video chip)
    # Galaxy S has TV-out capability, a very usefull feature theese days
    # Galaxy S has a better battery capacity and life (the Super AMOLED screen and the ARM A8 Cortex made on 45 nm Low Power technology are power friendly) - Up to 750 h stand-by(Desire can only 340h) and Up to 13 h 30 min talking (Desire can only 6 h 40 min!)
    # Galaxy S has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (n standard up to 10X faster bitrate than Desire's only b&g standard)
    # Galaxy S has the weight of 119g (Desire has 135g!)and Galaxy S is 2 mm thinner!
    # Galaxy S has 3 band HSPA (Desire only 2band)
    # Galaxy S has less SAR etc

So when you compare the features what do you see?
I see that Galaxy S is just BETTER!

I got this phone about a week back in India. Costs 26800. I have been an iPhone user for 3 years. This phone is good. I now realize that iPhone was so restricting. This phone lot of options to customize.

User interface is fast and amazing.
Like most smart phones battery needs charging every day.
The problem of low speajer volume in Nexus one seems to have been fixed in this, Speaker phone is loud and clear. Ringing is also audible even in outdoor situation.

Emails are easy to setup,Phone interface is good, Pictures are crisp and clear and large pictures (taken with a DSLR = 12 to 24 MB) open very fast.

I would say there are no cons so far.

Strongly recommend this phone to anyone who likes to tweak their phones and take charge.

i had a choice to choose between the HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy. iPhone 4 and N8 was not is my list because i didn't like them. I chose HTC Desire because somehow, i think i could trust HTC more than Samsung. Remember when Samsung use to make sh1ts?=) It's been a month and i still cant put down the phone. It is, a BEAST=)

I got this mobile yesterday and I have to admit that just in 5 hours I was totally in love with it.

All things are superb and it has one of the best on-screen keyboards I have used so far along with undeniable seamless experience on Sense UI. It never lags and is a speedy giant. Screen is good.

The only downside was the earphones which come bundled with it. HTC should provide some quality in-ear earphones.

Airline crew, bought my HTC DESIRE in London. Spent a long time on research for this phone. Cannot get a better phone. I would give it a 100percent rating. Well done HTC.

Ok, so I have had my desire for 2 weeks now.
Have 2.2 on it and all I can say is its the best phone I have ever owned. Been through almost every manufacture and this is on top!
My wife will only use Samsung and has always had Samsungs and I think the Galaxy looks cheap and they tried too hard to make a super phone. Great specs, but The Desire is better in many ways and has HTC behind it. Who has the better reputation in smartphones... HTC!!!

I have had a Desire for 2 weeks now...SLCD version with 2.2 OS and I absolutely love it! Compared to the Nexus One, the feel of tactile buttons just makes it that little bit easier to use, very nice build quality...pretty near flawless...did compare to Samsung Galaxy but...Desire is just better IMO...

Best phone on the market, by far. I'm so glad Telus finally brought this phone, picked it up on contract for less than $100. To any Canadians wanting to pick this phone up, it does NOT require a data plan AT ALL. Official Telus announcement clearly states it. No idea why but its true.

Rooted my desire a few days ago with the European HTC Desire ROM and now I have 720p + Froyo.
