Hey guys, I just got my Desire from Vodafone in the UK yesterday. The sim arrived today, so yesterday I played about with the phone, on the internet etc. Now, I put my new sim card in, and it won't let me connect to any network. I can still use internet and download apps, but I can't call or receive messages. It asks me to choose an available network operator, I pick Vodafone and it says my Sim card doesn't allow a connection to that network. Can anybody give me a hand please?

Ranking Ruler, 25 Aug 2010Samsung Galaxy S will be always better than HTC Desire...th... moreI get that you love Samsung Galaxy S, but why do you pose yourself as a Desire hater???

Each of these phones has its own advantage and disadvantage. There are certain advantages that Desire has over Galaxy S:

              * Desire is more pocketable, so more suited for daily usage.
              * Desire already has OS 2.2 (Froyo), while Galaxy S is still in OS 2.1.
              * Desire has the fantastic HTC Sens UI, which is in every aspect better than Samsung Touchviz.
              * Desire is cheaper!
              * Desire has a better build quality.
              * Desire has HTC Support, which is better than Samsung support.
              * Desire has less issues than Galaxy S (GPS, memory, lags, buggy SW and drivers, etc...).
              * Desire has a bit more RAM than Galaxy S.
              * Desire has a camera LED flash, which is missing in Galaxy S.

one more reason for not going for desire rightnow is the new technology they are using i.e. S-LCD instead of AMOLED which was way better ... so shud i wait for desire hd instead??

all this in a smaller, better built, cheaper phone...

anything over 120 in length is just way to big for a mobile phone imo...plus the galaxy s plastic build feels like your holding a $100 phone in your hand

Maybe in screen tech, but samsung does not install a led notification on any of it phones, I have missed so many important messages & phone calles in the past because of Samsung.

& there is no LED flash on the samsung, WHY,, silly samsung. if there to where on the galaxy I would have bought that instead of the Desire.

                              I heard there's a online warranty registration.

                              Is it true?

If yes, I'm at Singapore, and how do I go about registering online. I browsed through the HTC website, but have yet to find anywhere where I can register anything.

Samsung Galaxy S will be always better than HTC Desire...that's why Desire will never pass the 8.650 result (while I'm here to supervise the voting process). Next step: below 8.600 hehe almost here...:D
1-1-1 per day will be enough hehehe

The small battery is a big problem with Desire. Galaxy S forgot a led-flash and is a little bit to big, although lightweight, for easy onehand handling, but Desire would be an almost perfect phone if it had a bigger battery. Why make a phone that can surf on Internet with flash 10,1 and edit office- documents, I have Mobisystems OfficeSuite, and listen to LastFm, I live in Sweden so I use a version found on LastFm-"forum", but provide a so small battery that I can not use all these featuers for more than a very few hours?

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2010this is ridiculously expensiveI disagree too

In my country, this is the cheapest amongst hi-end Android device. Compared to X10 and Galaxy S.

If money was an issue, i wouldn't blame you if you've thought Desire is expensive :)

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2010this is ridiculously expensiveI disagree. HTC Desire is cheaper than other high-end phones, like Samsung Galaxy S or SE X10.
It is a good value for money.
