i work for o2 so get to play with phones all day long and this is one of the next wave of phones, what it can do is really great but i do agree the phone isnt "all that" i personally think i will keep my iphone or get the X10 as its a more stable better looking phone

I posted some tips on how to increase battery life on 14th, I suggest you read them and give them a go! Also if it really is an AMAZING camera you seek then get a phone with a 12mp camera.. its never going to be the best camera but it is ABSOLUTELY FINE for everyday snapping.
As for which is the best phone, I recommend you visit the techradar website, there is a comprehensive review of both.
Oh by the way the Desire has just become their first ever 5 star rated phone...

few days ago i was in my mobile phone shop and had the desire, the S.E X10 and the iphone in front of me and was having a play with each phone.
on initial thought i decided to go for this as the menus and features seemed the best but after a few days of playing with the phone im finding the battery pretty poor, the build quality a bit naff and the camera is terrible for a 2010 handset. the last few days ive managed to have a full day with all three phones Desire, iphone and X10 and this is what i think is best
1. Sony Erricsson Xperia X10
2. HTC Desire
3. Apple iphone
this is based off battery life, camera, ease of use, design & build quality as well as general everyday use etc.
So looks to me like the iphone has been beaten and knocked off its thrown finally
Hail the new NONE apple based smartphones :D

just sent my Desire back after several problems, battery is TERRIBLE. Camera is a bit rubbish.
Ugly handset as well
nice menus, sleek etc
my boss has got an X10 and seems like a lot better phone so have decided to go for that

hamid, 16 Apr 2010x10 over desire 1. nice design desire is very simple 2. ... moreyeah, and all for a price hike. Plus it runs android 1.6 which is just inferior, simple as. The Sense interface is far superior to Sony's, that I've seen anyway, and the X10 reaches the size where its just a little TOO big for being usable.

brynn, 16 Apr 2010Well that was shortlived,,just noticed its 15fps,,no thanx ... moreHi Brynn if your MAIN desire in a phone is the camera you can spend the amount on that phone for a camera, it would get you probably a Full HD camera that records at 30fps and 24mbps, the Desire has "usefull" features that far outway the camera on it, but if the camera is of such importance in a phone for you, then I guess the Sony Xperia X10 is for you, even though it lacks in a lot more obvious departments.

Another thing is dont use plemix its got terrible reputation and YES we could do with a review its 429 GBP in carfone so its between this and x10 for future high tech android fones...The nexus i always has reports of poor battery and as using e72 now cannot go back to poor batterys.

Hello All,
I am looking for a device which is good for geocaching too, but got some rumors that the integrated gpsOne chip is not as sensitive as it is needed for geocaching, doesn't really work fine in offline mode -without data connection and the battery drains in approx 3 hours on continuously turned on gps. Does any of you have hands on experience with Desire and its gps? Also I wonder if I buy the phone and a sensitive external gps with bluetooth connection would the battery of the Desire last longer than when its using its internal gps? Does any of you have info on the time frame in which the battery of the Desire will drain on continuous bluetooth connection? Thank you in advance
Regards,
Felix
