i own the desire a8181 the updated version with the super lcd and hd video with 30fps the original only had 15fps and 3x less resolution therefore we are really talking a far superior phone than the original they share the same body but comparing the original to the a8181 is really like comparing earlier iphones with the 4 the 4 is a much higher grade phone just as with the original desire and the a8181. the original won numerous phone of the year awards so just imagine if they had the a8181 to judge against others lol
now magazines like what mobile stated the upgrade when it happened which is why they are the most trusted.
now mobile choice was lazy in the cons section they moaned about the video speed and resolution which was fair enough at that time but when it was upgraded did they change this no they did not even after ppl. pointed this out they could not be bothered which is sloppy and a disgrace, shame on you mobile choice.
techradar still claims it comes with android 2.1 and they claim to be the most upto date reviews lol that's false advertising techradar.
the phone is still the best quality on the market and htc should remember that the quality of later models is getting poor and the grades they are being awarded proves my point the new 3d model was given 2.5 stars htc will go the way of nokia if don't sort their greed out.
i have only 2 gripes with the phone and that is htc dishonesty not the phone
1. the memory htc claims is far far lower.
2. the gingerbread upgrade due to htc's greed they have annoyed a lot of ppl.
first we were getting it and then not and then after a lot of complaints within 24 hours we were again.
but they made a rubbish version and you loose more than you gain and took 4 months to make and no over the air!
they claim the lack internal memory is the problem (see they lied about memory) but that is rubbish because the new wildfire s has less but ships with a full working gingerbread shame on you htc.
also the much older google nexus one made by htc has a gingerbread 2.3.6 issue and over the air so shame on you htc.
i am suing htc for their dishonesty in due course unless they do the honest thing. they have admitted their lies and made the excuse well all companies do it, well evan if that's true it's not legal.
i suggest everyone who finds this wrong let htc know your not happy! i bought my desire a8181 sim free march 2011 at a cost of £460 and i am 83% disabled so my phone is my life and htc i won't allow you con me.

Gingerbread Update Successful!! =D
I gained a LOT of things compared to my previous stock froyo..
So far these are the ones noticeably improved...
1. Faster Booting (used to be a slow "quietly brilliant")
2. Smoother and Tap-tastic very responsive screen.
3.Brighter Screen (can u believe that..?), i really noticed (coz the update took only minutes) a brighter and more lively screen compared to froyo. **both are in auto brightness mode**
4. Nicer icons on the notification area (battery bar is new, downloads notification is a nice looking folder icon now).
5. I am now able to login to my twitter account!!! =) i've always been not able to login to my twitter account thru htc sense, now its working!
6.Nicer User Interface Transition animations... like dissolving when exiting people.
7. "Downloads" is now in the App list.
8.In Settings>Applications there are now new options included like Storage Used (shows you the mb used and mb left), and Fast Boot.
9.Internet Browser's text is finer and more detailed (compared to previous froyo's bold-like font specially in the address bar)
10. I got 106 MB free for the start dude! yeah!
As of now... im loving the gingerbread update i just made (i've only had it just an hour ago...). im still looking forward to the battery improvement. i think this Gingerbread update is Superb and a Must-have for Desire Fans who wants to push their Desires on the next level.

I have bought HTC Desire.Often it happens that my phone dose not work in the morning time until i use my phone. I have shown to TVSE service center for five times and i am not getting any solution. They have formatted my phone twice and even motherboard of my phone has been changed once . Still the same problem is occurring.

geez.... suddenly my wifi stopped working. it always says "unable to scan for networks"...i've had this for 2days now.
well because of this i now have a reason to update my stock froyo.... and i am now about to start My Gingerbread Update.....
any tips or things i should remember...???

Is there a reason why i cannot send or recieve picture msgs, or even msgs with any attachments??? Is is it a phone setting thats wrong.....what can i do to correct this problem???? My carrier and htc support cannot seem to figure it out! Other than this small glitch....I LOVE THE PHONE!!!

I've used this fon for bearly 1yr and I must say is the best I've ever had. I'm in love with HTC and ANDROID. Nothing can beat them.

hello. just bought it. fantastic phone. i have a little problem. i set te telephone languge as romanian my maternal language but i navigation the voice guidance is still in enghlish. what should i do to change the language. befire i used a samsung galaxy mini and both sistem and voice guidance from nacigation were in romanian. help please. also the famele voice fro
english is much lower than man s voice from romanian.

Dude,i m waiting a long since to buy a smart phone.at first i chose nokia x7 for its huge internal memory but now i m confused cause it doesnt have secondary camera.then i decided htc desire but it has a low internal memory that means i cant install lots of softwares.please some1 help me to find a android htc with huge internal memory.please.please.i m waiting for some1s kind and helpful reply.

Dear just a request,
I have got my my galaxy 551 bricked. A friend of mine has got a HTC Desire with him (he runs a shop). it has got 8 months or so of warranty left looks sparingly used.
Just want to know how good is it with custom ROMs..
Really worried abt battery life on androids

1.HTC Sense... a Fully Synchronizable phone book with your social network friends, and also Friend Stream... link your social network accounts in one page...
2.Widgets... customizable and interactive widgets..
3.And Most of All... the ANDROID OS.... a fully customizable Operating System that gives you the freedom and flexibilty to suit every function according to your personal preferences.... (eg. change your whole user interface, change how your whole phone looks, software-wise, change home screen, messaging, phone book, dialer, etc.)...
Now those are the things you'll be missing from iphones...

People should buy this phone instead of iPhone 4 because:
1) Unlike iPhone, this phone has Flash Player;
2) Unlike iPhone, this phone has Bluetooth file transfer (Even my toaster has Bluetooth today);
3) Unlike iPhone, this phone has USB Mass Storage Mode.
