Friends he... moreN8 will give you better pics and videos but it wont give you what dslr cameras could do.. nokia phones are known for "hangs" and "freezes", i've had my desire for seven months of abusive use but i havent encountered any of those.. they say symbian anna or belle are good, but if you want more free apps nothing beats android.. but to be honest N8 was also my choice before, but after experiencing desire w/ android, i won't ever change again

The Google maps in HTC Desire i... moreIt's actually 150.75MB but HTC lied on the packaging claiming 512MB.
If you have the A8181 version it comes with 2.2 so can move apps if developer encodes the app or game.
But HTC should not of lied about the internal memory they lied about RAM as well claimed was 576MB BUT IT IS 412MB get any information app and you will see I bought 5 and they all give same results.
The speed is not 1GHz either its 998MHz I know that is not much but it puts it into MHz not the GHz they claim.

The only advantage N8 have its 12mp camere but its symbian and its UI is realy a dead fish about to stink any moment.

to HTC we the owners of the Desire/Desire A8181 realise your cheating us with the poor gingerbread upgrade you released this being version 2.3.3 WE WANT THE OVER THE AIR STABLE VERSION 2.3.6 that Google released for the Nexus one which you made and is basically a poor version of the Desire. Or we the owners of the phone that made you will NEVER purchase an HTC phone again.
Please anyone who wants an over the AIR gingerbread update say so please don't FORGET if we don't take a stand we won't get it so please support this many thanks.

Would anybody be so kind as to help me with regards to ... moreif you use the htc version then your guarantee is not affected but htc released a poor version and tech radar adviced not to install because they state you loose more than you gain! there is no over the air with htc's version but google released a better version 2.3.6 more stable and you loose nothing and it's over the air for the nexus one which htc made.
the real problem is greed on htc's part they don't want phones already purchased to have gingerbread they make no money out of it! they want us all to buy new phones they are dishonest crooks!
gingerbread for desire the story
first it was coming in may!
then it was not possible due to memory constraints!
htc got so many complaints that by magic within 24 hours the desire would get gingerbread now how could they promise that unless they knew it was capable?! because they knew very well it was able!
but to save face they made out only a downgraded version would work! this is poor customer service don't forget there was by this time several fully working gingerbread software was available if you had a rooted phone.
htc are a greedy dishonest company and i can prove it.
any mobile magazine or newspaper out there want the story just let me know i was in communication with their customer services for five months nearly every day i kept everything they lied and lied first of all then when i threatened them with legal action they started admitting everything until someone must of noticed and the manager of customer services took over and the lies started again which makes them look evan more dishonest.
let's tell htc we all want the over-the-air better version and if they don't give it us we will never buy an htc phone again.

i love the quality of the desire a8181.
i hate htc customer care and after care it is the worst in the world.
i hate htc's dishonesty:
ram htc claims 576 mb
the real amount is 412 mb
they lied by 164 mb that's a lot!
rom htc claims 512 mb
the real amount 150.75 mb
they lied by 361.25 mb that is grand theft!
these companies think because they are not situated in the countries they sell their products they can lie and get away with it but let's tell them they can't.

I have a massive problem I am not allowed near a computer the radiation may cause my illness to start growing again and its not worth dying for lol so over the air is my only option and the nexus one made by HTC got 2.3.6 a better version over the air but HTC don't want to know even after I told them my problems. NO money in it for them so they don't care they even told me that is why I will never buy another HTC phone.
It sounds great but the only way this boy will get is if a court orders them which is what I have to take them to court for.

wheely-boy, 01 Oct 2011how did you get it over the air please? HTC told me it WAS ... morei didnt get it over the air.. i updated my desire thru usb to my pc.i have the same htc desire as yours. bought it feb 2011.
dont be afraid of htc's warning about "its only for experts.." crap. i am no expert. just make sure you follow the instructions and warnings. the update took only 10mins (or less i think)..
you'll be gaining a lot compared to stock froyo we had. try it. search in youtube a step by step guide on how to update to gingerbread. i used the video made by pocketnow.com. its simple, easy and amazing. my htc desire really feels new. and that firmware version number 2.3.3 is eye candy..
i suggest you give it a go. ul be happier with your desire.
my wife also has a desire but with stock froyo, im comparing it with my updated desire and all the fonts, icons and layout are more finer and detailed (in terms of pixels), not to mention the smoother and more responsive touch screen.
the wallpapers you 'll be losing are the dead wallpaprs. the live wallpapers are still present.
