AnonD-1371, 01 Apr 2011hello .....i am confused b/w samsung wave s8500 and htc d... moremy sister has the samsung wave s8500... and i have the htc desire.. so i can give u a hands on review about these 2..
Samsung wave S8500 has the Super Amoled and the screen really speaks for itself.the touchscreen is very responsive.. nice browser and a nice you tube app for vids. nice sleek looks...but one of its downside is its OS which is BADA.. the UI and menu has nice looks but the Bada App store isn't that progressive so ul be stuck with same apps for a long time..one more thing is it has low RAM.. so multi tasking is very limited..
and in my sister's case, her wave frequently hangs..
but other than that,its still a good working phone for her...
Htc Desire.. well the name speaks for itself..great clear screen.. Sense UI is really cool..
and Android OS makes it completely Superb.. powerful browser, multi-tasking is desire's way of life..
the Android Market is freakin progressive(check the article of Gsmarena about its progress..ul see)..
well..in the end it will still be ur choice..depends on what suits you.. good luck!

if ur into pics and vids go for the samsung sl.. but for browsing i would strongly recommend desire...
I, personally, am not into taking pics and vids every now and then.. all i want is some snapshots when i want them.. not really hd specific.. as long as the vids and pics are clear (NOT so pixelized) enough to see and/or watch, its fine with me..
front facing cam... hmm..used to be one of my top notch criteria for a phone, but honestly, i almost havent used it for vid calls..(i mean whats the use if not everybody has a vid call capabilty and that damn 3g signal thats not readily available everywhere??)
but im very picky when it comes to browsing... i want it fast, complete and powerful...and Desire's oozing with those..
u view the webpage as u see it in pc and it supports flash... so ul be able to see it as how it is... (it wont be "optimized for mobile", which u commonly see in mobile browsers)
the screen's very responsive and the pinch-zooming in browsing is superb..u dont have to pan left or right to read words in the webpage, desire will fit the words in the screen automatically no matter how u zoom in (unlike in iphone where u have to pan left or right if u zoom in too much for the page)... howzzat for a mobile browser?
but in the end it will still be ur choice.. it will depend on what will suit ur needs...

I really like the htc sense UI...but m confused between Desire and Samsung Galaxy SL...though desire support hd(720p) after upgrading to froyo, i saw some video sample over youtube they were not like hd(!!), no front facing cam :-O
...i surf internet a lot, shoot vids n take photos..n i love gaming....
Which one to buy guys?..Htc Desire or Samsung Galaxy SL ??

pinoy from rizal, 31 Mar 2011to people who have rebooting problems or other issues in th... moreyeah... i bought me self an ipod touch a year ago and unfortunately its a unit with factory defect (the home buttons keeps on pressing itself like crazy)... and its like a disease..sometimes it attacks, sometimes not...
i lived with it for more than a year..and i wasn't able to have it replaced for i dont have the time...
but i never "CRIED LIKE A BABY" about it...
and i didnt hate ipod touch for that.. its an awesome piece of device.. i just got UNLUCKY to have a unit with factory defect.. and i was able to accept that.

pinoy from rizal, 31 Mar 2011be careful bro, those getting gingerbread right now are doi... moreyeah thanks for the warning bro... i wont go for gingerbread update yet, and thats for sure... i aint gonna be updating my firmware unless its been a long while since htc has released the proper gingerbread for desires.. id like to see and observe how gingerbread will do, wait for bugs to be fixed and hear the reviews of desire with gingerbread users...
anywayz, im lovin froyo... so there's nothing more i would ask for...(for now...)

to people who have rebooting problems or other issues in the beginning, obviously you have "lemon" units, just return those damn phones, have them replaced for good ones, haven't you heard about replacement warranty?.. all brands are prone to these issues anyway, so stop whinning and please replace your handsets

This device sucks. read most of the reviews here before getting it. and I saw that most people like it, but for me, this phone is an overrated piece of sh*t. It's a shame that HTC didn't even address this problem.

Using the secret menu by entering *#*#4636#*#* Can anyone with the htc desire tell me if you are getting around 1% - 2% battery drain per hour on pure standby.
I am getting this regardless of weather I have airplane mode on or off or even mobile data on or off.

By Rooting and adding a custom rom such as GingerVillain. These are Roms based on the Gingerbread AOSP source code.
