I absolutley love this device! internet speed is very important for me on a handset and the htc desire hd does not dissapoint. very smooth on the touch screen and typing on the touch screen is very smooth. it is quite a big phone but you start to appreciate that feature of the device when you are browsing the internet or warching a movie! I was thinking of gettin an iphone but the restrictionsput on the device put on my apple and pricing put me off! great device i would say all round! Good job HTC!

[deleted post]Oh come on kid, grow up already! If you want a great camera, buy a real CAMERA! HTC is FOCUSING at making REAL smart phones with awesome specs! Nokia even don't have a phone with 1 GHZ CPU! What a shame! They don't have a phone with 512 Mb Ram. They don't have a real flagship phone right now. The N8 is a weak phone if you want to compare with this! NOT only the camera is important on a phone. By the way the great N8 has ONLY 4x digital zoom. Wow! :)) In 2006 they made phones with 20x digital zoom, and now they produce phones with 4x digital zoom. What a shame. Nokia is late with touchscreen...

Finally the review is finished. This is a fantastic phone! It has so many applications, it has a GOOD CPU, it has 768 Ram, it has a very big screen, it has a good camera. The UI is awesome too! HTC you are the BEST!!!

Thanks for giving us your impressions, it helps.
I am a mangas fan so I use my smartphone for watching 720p videos on the go. I've bought all recent big smartphones (X10, Desire, Hd2...) for that purpose and they just didn't manage to play smoothly my 720p videos. Now I use the Samsung Vibrant and so far so good: Super Amoled, 16 GO+ 32 GO and finally all my mangas in 720p play well with no issues.
So my question is: the Desire Hd with his new Cpu and Gpu can play all my videos(DivX, Flv and various formats) smoothly?

you are absolutely correct in nexy 2011 Q1 or may b Q2 Autumn SE will think to launch this phone with every thing top of all 12MP camera LED lights FM WiFi retina displayed
So you have to wait some time to see great things

i got this phone few days before
after three to five days purchase
i started giving battary problem which gave arise to verious types of problems
sudden shutdown
restoring all the adjustments
call anyone without any notice
screen is not so efective it is reflective
so , those who are planning to buy this phone i will suggest don't go for this

with just 256mb of RAM on board the N8, itll be foolish to believe its any good, just doesnt stand a chance, even to the old Nexus 1.

I got it, any questions will be welcomed to help future owner of this amazing phone.
Here is the short review ( my opinion):
-First of all, when i get it out of the box, it was very big, I had SGS and X10, and they are different, smaller. But the quality is something else. It's got the looks, charm, believe me! Start form outside, screen is soooo goood, nothing like x10, but close like sgs. Every thing is solid (covers) but I dond recomend often change SIM nor SD cards, and battery.
-8 mp cam is astonishing. X10 can not come even close! And dual LED light is piece of art, adjust power of light when needed.
Camcoder is top noc, nothing to tell, same as sgs and x10 (eclair)./
-Comes with 2.2 android
-Speaker is not that loud, but is louder than x10, so it is just fine. but if you put headphones on and turn SRS on, it will blow you away! Dolby is yust if you attach larger speakers, for pure sound!
-Texting is awesome, call quality is just fine.
-Connected media is nice feature if you can use it, need router etc..
-friend stream is something like timescape on x10. but, by my opinion, much organizer, easier to use than timescape.
HTC Hub, and Sense are nice apps, and they have a lot of potential, just need some time.. Sense is working just fine, can send sms, lock phone, find phone, really nice!
Hehe, this may seem funny, but I still cant figure out how song player is working. I can not change songs like I want.. How are they grouped atc, newer mind..
-Book reader is nice feature, SoundHound works, but every then and now recognize song.
-Hot spot is ok, who need it.
Now, Battery, hmm, one day and that is full use! Not A minute more, but I think, After couple times charging, and reduced use, it could juice up 2 Days..
Never the less, every is simple, yet elegant, smart and handsome. Ask anything you want till I am here, in next couple of days. Greedings

Got this phone. Terrible battery worse than old Desire with hardly anything running,camera is crap & tinny loud speaker. Phone is too big it's like a slab not a phone. Got something better now

Android has a LOT of applications too. Android phones have MORE Ram then Symbian. Android is the future! The N8 is a camera phone, when this is a true SMART phone, and also has a good camera.

I will buy the HTC Desire much probably soon. Android is the future, this is my opinion. Meego will be a BIG competitor for Android next year. Now the KING is Android.

As I see here, HTC fans/users are usually Grown-up people/Adults, because we know what to choose and what we want!
These days Nokia fans are usually Teenagers! maybe thats why N8 is so popular ...
Desire HD, so far as I think is the One and Only TRUE SMARTPHONE on the market, Forget the rest! :)

Erm what I did, which made a big difference was turn of internet (3g or wifi) if not using it. Uninstall any app killers - apparently it takes more power to close them and reopen them than it does if you leave them running in the background. To monitor my 3g internet usage (so I don't go over my 500mb/month allowance), I had an app that refreshed every 30 seconds - this killed the battery. Anything like that which refreshes very frequently, disable, or set it back so it refreshes after longer intervals ie emails - mines set to once a day casue im at work and use a computer so there aint a point in it refreshing when I can just check on the pc! Erm also account syncing can consume alot of battery so you may want to play around with syncing intervals. Also set screen brightness as automatic.
Got most of the tips online where the guy claimed he got battery usage to fall to about 1% an hour. I thought he was crazy at first, but then I did all the things I said above, and I was shocked - he wasn't crazy!
I charged my phone last night, took it off at 11pm n went sleep at 12. got up at 8:30 turned wi-fi on for an hour to sync facebook, weather, emails, played a bit of world war, turned off wifi at 9:30 and came to work. Since 9:30 been texting people and general phone usage (ano, not the most appropriate thing to do at work), but now, 14hours and a half after taking off charge, I have 76% left - not bad I think!

reza, 11 Nov 2010my dhd is faster than my new laptop ,and battry life is good !! How do you think now? I cant have my DHD on for long.. maby 6h with SMALL usage.. Can anyone help me, do i do anything wrong or?
