No, 2.4 is NOT for tablets only. Android 3.0 will likely be, however 2.4 is meant to be able to run some Honeycomb (3.0) apps. We will have to wait and see.

This is pretty much a Desire HD with a smaller screen with SLCD. It will be running 2.3 with great potential of being a beast with custom ROM and Kernel.
I personally think that it has cleaned up and fixed up all the flaws in the Desire such as the body, battery life and a nicer screen which has also made the phone slightly lighter too, with a few extra features. Very nice touch up!
Definately a thumbs up for me.

Touch buttons on Desire S instead of real ones on the Desire?
Absolutely unacceptable!
I just freak out every time I accidentally push them on phones that have the touch-buttons.

It is clear that the flaws that were in the original Desire have been fixed in the Desire S:
full aluminium unibody much better than the plastic back cover that would slightly wobble on the Desire.
The hardware buttons on the Desire that would become unresponsive after some time are replaced by touch sensitive controls.
I just hope that the battery performance will be improved.
One note. HTC SENSE not the best looking of UI's. Hardly any eye candy, transitions and animations on the Desire and, according to MWC videos, there is no continuous scrolling on the Desire S, which makes for a very bland user experience.
It is a shame for such a lovely phone as the Desire S.
I wonder why HTC wouldn't improve their UI. The phones have the required hardware to support flawless and smooth transitions after all.

Zeen, 19 Feb 2011Whats the difference with HTC Desire? :SI read from the htc.com website that Desire S has the power of its predecessor, Desire, but the design of the unit is inspired by Legend. Well, before, I was having a hard time choosing between Desire and Legend, bec. i like the speed of Desire but i love the design of Legend. Now, my choice is definitely this Desire S.

I use my phone camera to snap presentation slides as notes during seminars and notes written on white board during meetings. I've used a couple of phones where u touch the screen to snap a picture and they usually comes out blur. I still think a dedicated camera button will be helpful in situations like this. Thanks buddy!

How can you say that its nothiing new in this handset????
HTC fix the problems in standars desire hand release desire s... has more internal memory... real hd recording... new htc sense... new processor generation and graphic....has front camera... DONT BE UNFAIR PLEASE i like this phone

I don't see how to take a picture other than to touch the screen as there is no trackpad this time around, nor any hardware buttons on the front, or any such introduction of buttons (on the front),
