About the Power button, I used it, while connected with Charger, for Factory Reset (Hard Reset) as you suggested earlier (pressing Volume UP, Down, Power). Is that what you meant? When i connect it to PC using USB, it also works the same way as with the charger.

On the 4 color band, following info is showing up:

PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MircoP(TOUCH) 0x40

What should i do now?

I’m still having a problem disabling Data Connection. It will still connect on booting the phone and have to disconnect manually.

    In Data Connection I have:
    WAP Off
    MMS On
    GPRS ON
Active Data connections (Disconnect Only) Off

I can’t see anything else that might affect data connection. Can you think of anything else please?

    Kind regards,

and the phone forgetting your password is a bug in ROM older than 1.66. you didn't even have to drop the phone for that to happen. so after the factory reset, update your ROM or don't use pass keys or you will get locked out again.

In the internet tab the search on the outside is for the desktop version of the internet.
The search on the inside that was the desktop search before is now the search for the mobile version of the internet.

Nothing on your SD will be lost if you do a factory reset.
But programs that were installed to the SD card have registry entries and start menu shortcuts. Those are kept on internal memory and will be lost with a factory reset.
So you will still have to reinstall the programs even though they were on the memory card in order to get back the registry entries and the start menu shortcuts.
Setting in most of the programs you install on the SD would not be lost because the setting file would have been on the SD in the programs folder. That was not touch during the factory reset.

I'm thinking of trying out Andriod, preferably Froyo, on my UK o2 HD2 which I've had for almost a year now.
My current ROM (1.72.206.3) is the most recent, stock o2 upgrade from the HTC Europe site which came with radio version 2.07.51.22_2.
Have any other o2 users tried, hopefully with some success, to run Android from their SD card using the above ROM and radio versions? If so, what build of Android would you recommend?
Alternatively, if only a flashed non-stock ROM and HSPL installation will make this work, what would be my best way forward to safeguard my warranty and ensure I dont brick my beloved HD2?
Soz if anyone is getting fed up with HD2 android issues being raised on here, but I've been looking around XDA, HTCPedia, et al for a few days now and feel like I'm just going in circles!
                      Many thanks.

If your S/N downloaded the 3.14 ROM then your phone is not a T-mobile UK.
The 3.14 you told me started to download using your S/N was made for HTC factory unlocked Phone. That could be why you’re constantly rebooting. Some one put a T-mobile ROM on a phone it was not designed for.
Remember before I told you I had seen that problem only twice before and one of the time was when I put a T-mobile USA test ROM on my phone.
Its important that you let me know..
                          1. When you get the downloaded ROM using your S/N.
                          2. If your power button works with the phone connected to your PC using the USB cable.
                          3. And the information that is on your 4 color band screen, when you power on holding the volume down key.

with your phone off, hold the volume down key only and power on the phone. when you see the color bands tell me the text you see there.

also, can you power on the phone when connected to the USB port of the PC. (need to know theses things to tell you what way to use to install the ROM you are downloading.)
